Those Who Dare Follow Jesus? August 16, 2013 – Psalms 5 Today’s Feast Psalms – Chapter 5 “God will certainly hear prayer: David gives to God the glory, and takes to himself the comfort. (1-6) He prayed for himself, that God would guide him, and for all the Lord’s people, that God would give them joy, and keep them safe. (7-12)”  - Matthew Henry Concise  Matthew Henry Concise Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 5.  Thank God in the precious name of Jesus for the peace we find in the Holy Spirit.   “11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;     let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them,     that those who love your name may exult in you. 12 For you bless the righteous, O Lord;     you cover him with favor as with a shield.” - Psalm 5:11-12 English Standard Version (ESV).  We like all those who followed God and repented of their sin before us, are safe and secure in God’s hands. “Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1 ESV Jesus is calling, do you still hear him?  He won’t call forever, now is the time to answer his call. Glory To God In Psalms! August 15, 2013 – Psalms 3 & 4 Today’s Feast Psalms 3 & 4 – Chapter 3 “David complains to God of his enemies, and confides in God. (1-3) He triumphs over his fears, and gives God the glory, and takes to himself the comfort. (4-8)”   - Chapter 4 “The children of men proved, and the happiness of godly people. (1-5) God's favour is happiness. (6-8)” - Matthew Henry Concise  Matthew Henry Concise Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 3 & 4.  Psalms 3 points to the fact that when we give God the glory we get the peace.   “7 Arise, O Lord!     Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek;     you break the teeth of the wicked. 8 Salvation belongs to the Lord;     your blessing be on your people! Selah” - Psalm 3 English Standard Version (ESV).  Psalms explores the emotional part of agitation and the peace of giving those emotions as well as the glory over to God.    “7 You have put more joy in my heart     than they have when their grain and wine abound. 8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep;     for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” - Psalm 4:7-8 ESV. Our Feast Turns To Psalms August 14, 2013 – Psalms 1 & 2 Today’s Feast Psalms 1 & 2 – Chapter 1 “The holiness and happiness of a godly man. (1-3) The sinfulness and misery of a wicked man, The ground and reason of both. (4-6))”   - Chapter 2 “Threatenings against the enemies of Christ's kingdom. (1-6) Promise to Christ as the Head of this kingdom. (7-9) Counsel to all, to espouse its interests. (10-12)” - Matthew Henry Concise  Matthew Henry Concise Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 1 & 2.  Psalms an overview; “David was the penman of most of the psalms, but some evidently were composed by other writers, and the writers of some are doubtful. But all were written by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost; and no part of the Old Testament is more frequently quoted or referred to in the New. Every psalm either points directly to Christ, in his person, his character, and offices; or may lead the believer's thoughts to Him. And the psalms are the language of the believer's heart, whether mourning for sin, thirsting after God, or rejoicing in Him. Whether burdened with affliction, struggling with temptation, or triumphing in the hope or enjoyment of deliverance; whether admiring the Divine perfections, thanking God for his mercies, mediating on his truths, or delighting in his service; they form a Divinely appointed standard of experience, by which we may judge ourselves. Their value, in this view, is very great, and the use of them will increase with the growth of the power of true religion in the heart. By the psalmist's expressions, the Spirit helps us to pray. If we make the psalms familiar to us, whatever we have to ask at the throne of grace, by way of confession, petition, or thanksgiving, we may be assisted from thence. Whatever devout affection is working in us, holy desire or hope, sorrow or joy, we may here find words to clothe it; sound speech which cannot be condemned. The Well Dressed Saint! August 13, 2013 – Ephesians 6 Today’s Feast Ephesians 6 – “The duties of children and parents. (1-4) Of servants and masters. (5-9) All Christians are to put on spiritual armour against the enemies of their souls. (10-18) The apostle desires their prayers, and ends with his apostolic blessing. (19-24)” - Matthew Henry Concise Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Ephesians 6.  “1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:1-4 ESV.  “13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.”  Ephesians 6:13-18 ESV.   Paul end’s the letter to the Ephesians giving a good example of the father child relationship.  Then before he closes he tells us who the enemy is and how to stand against him.  Let me know how you feel about spiritual enemies and the Christian stand, in a reply or an email. Are These Words Offensive? August 12, 2013 – Ephesians 5 Today’s Feast Ephesians 5 – “Exhortation to brotherly love. (1,2) Cautions against several sins. (3-14) Directions to a contrary behaviour, and to relative duties. (15-21) The duties of wives and husbands are enforced by the spiritual relation between Christ and the church. (22-33)” - Matthew Henry Concise Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Ephesians 5.  At the rate we are moving through the scripture we will read every word in God’s Word in approximately three years. “3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. 4 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. 5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.” Ephesians 5:3-5 ESV.   “31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.”  Ephesians 5:31-33 ESV.   Do you find any of the verses in today’s Feast offensive or archaic?   After you’ve prayed and read Ephesians 5th Chapter, I would like to hear (if only a Yes or No) from you in a post or an email.
