First Things First! Sept. 23, 2013 – Psalms 49 Today’s Feast Psalms Chapter 49 - “A call for attention. (1-5) Folly of worldlings. (6-14) Against fear of death. (15-20)- Matthew Henry Concise  Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 49. The psalmist entreats us to not envy the “Rich Man”,  for he can’t take the glory of his money with him.   “17 For when he dies he will carry nothing away;     his glory will not go down after him. 18 For though, while he lives, he counts himself blessed     —and though you get praise when you do well for yourself— 19 his soul will go to the generation of his fathers,     who will never again see light. 20 Man in his pomp yet without understanding is like the beasts that perish.”   Psalm 49:8-9 - English Standard Version (ESV).  Money doesn’t endure but the love of God endures forever.  God’s word entreats us to seek Jesus, and all of his righteousness.  “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 ESV.  This is the truth; Jesus is calling you home today?  He will not be calling forever.  Today is the day of salvation. By What Are We Known?

By What Are We Known? Sept. 22, 2013 – Psalms 48 Today’s Feast Psalms Chapter 48 - “The glories of the church of Christ.” - Matthew Henry Concise  Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 48.  The psalmist is praising God.    He is prophesizing that only the citizens in the spiritual city of God render the praise that Jesus deserves.   “12 Walk about Zion, go around her,     number her towers, 13 consider well her ramparts,     go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation 14     that this is God, our God forever and ever.     He will guide us forever.”   Psalm 48:8-9 - English Standard Version (ESV).  Saints the love of God endures forever.  God wants your hearts, body and soul to praise and worship Him for that eternal love. Why Praise God?

Why Praise God? Sept. 21, 2013 – Psalms 47 Psalms Chapter 47 - “The people exhorted to praise God.” - Matthew Henry Concise  Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 47.  The psalmist is advising people to praise the LORD.    He is saying that God’s people have a duty to praise God.   “8 God reigns over the nations;     God sits on his holy throne. 9 The princes of the peoples gather     as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God;     he is highly exalted!”   Psalm 47:8-9 - English Standard Version (ESV).  Many people believe that our world is falling apart.  They blame the politicians, corporations even God.  We tell people to keep their eyes on Jesus.  Some say that we’re blindly following God!  We tell people that when we’re praying to and praising God and reading God’s Word we are doing so with our eyes wide open.  The solutions to the world’s problems are in God’s Word (See 2 Chronicles 7:14).  We praise God because, he loves us and he leads us in the path of righteousness.  We are not saved in the name of politicians, welfare departments, certainly not by bills and policies there is no other than Jesus!  We praise God because there is no other name under heaven by which we are saved.  “11 This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. 12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” ” Acts 4:11-12 ESV.  “14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:14 ESV.
