Today’s
Feast
Jan. 7,
2014 – Proverbs 9
The Way
of Wisdom & Folly
Proverbs
9 “The invitations of Wisdom. (1-12) The
invitations of folly. (13-18)” - Matthew
Henry Concise
Dear
Saints,
In Proverbs 9 we see the contrasts
between seeking wisdom as opposed to folly! “16 “Whoever is simple, let him turn in
here!” And to him who lacks sense she says, 17 “Stolen water is sweet, and bread
eaten in secret is pleasant.”
18 But he does not know that the
dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of
Sheol.” Proverbs 9:16-18
(English
Standard Version) ESV. Persons that hide what they are doing from
the light of God’s Word are being foolish. (see
John 3:20). People who seek Jesus and his love are at the
beginning of wisdom and insight. Jesus
said that he is the light of the world (see
John 8:12) those who follow Him have the light of life. “1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And walk
in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and
sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2
ESV.
When we are walking in the light with Jesus; we’re walking in
love!

Jan. 6,
2014 – Proverbs 8
The
Blessings Of Wisdom!
All the words of God’s
mouth are righteous; there is nothing twisted or crooked in
them.
Proverbs
8 “Christ, as Wisdom, calls to the sons of
men. (1-11) The nature and riches of Wisdom. (12-21) Christ one with the Father,
in the creation of the world, and rejoicing in his work for the salvation of
man. (22-31) Exhortations to hear Christ's word. (32-36)” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
In Proverbs 8 we begin to understand
that the words of Christ, guide the most ignorant persons into the knowledge of
the truth. In these verses we find
prudence and skill are from the Lord. They show Jesus is the Creator and the
only Savior of people. We should listen to the voice of Jesus with the childlike
enthusiasm. “35 For whoever finds me finds life and
obtains favor from the Lord,
36 but he who fails to find me
injures himself; all who hate me love death.”” Proverbs 8:35-36
(English
Standard Version) ESV.
Jesus is still calling out to his creation
today (see
Revelation 3:20). It
is up to every person to answer Jesus while he is still calling (see
Romans 1:28) them to be blessed. “13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being
sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at
the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:13
ESV.
Can you still hear
Jesus calling you? Are you ready to
answer His call? Do you want to find
true happiness, peace and purpose in your life?

Warnings Against The Seducers!

Jan. 5,
2014 – Proverbs 7
Be Warned
Against The Seducers!
Pleasant sins are the
more dangerous, because they easily gain the heart!
Proverbs
7 “Invitations to learn wisdom. (1-5) The
arts of seducers, with warnings against them. (6-27)” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Proverbs 7 begins as an invitation
to learn wisdom then transcends to warnings against the adulteress.
“26 for many a victim has she laid low, and all her slain are a
mighty throng. 27 Her house is the way
to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death.” Proverbs 7:26-27
(English
Standard Version) ESV.
God’s Word teaches us that a married couple
becomes one flesh in in marriage (see
Ephesians 6:2). Adultery therefor
becomes suicide (see Romans 6:23) as it
rips the man and woman apart. God will
judge the adulterers; “4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage
bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and
adulterous.” Hebrews 13:4
ESV. Unity
between same sex couples is not a marriage; in God’s eyes (see Romans 1:26-32) it
is sin. Believers should not marry
non-believers (see 2 Corinthians
6:14).
Once you have accepted
Jesus the only contact with unbelievers is to share the gift of God, Christ
Jesus with them. “17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name
of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through
him.” Colossians 3:17
ESV.

Jan. 4,
2014 – Proverbs 6
Practical
Warnings Against Sin!
Because the wages of
sin are death both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to
death.
Proverbs
6 “Cautions against rash suretiship. (1-5) A
rebuke to slothfulness. (6-11) Seven things hateful to God. (12-19) Exhortations
to walk according to God's commandments. (20-35)” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Proverbs 6 points out that we are
stewards of God’s gifts, and we will answer to God if we waste them in foolish
schemes. We are to use due diligence in
business not for worldly profits but so that we will not be a burden to others.
Persons who are apathetic will be ruined financially. Before any person commits adultery they need
to consider what a heinous sin it is. “20 My son, keep your father's commandment,
and forsake not your mother's teaching.
21 Bind them on your
heart always; tie them around your neck.
22 When you walk, they will lead
you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will
talk with you.” Proverbs 6:20-22
(English
Standard Version) ESV.
We are to honor our parents in all we do;
this is the first commandment that comes with a promise (see
Ephesians 6:2)! Let the love of Jesus
lead you in every aspect of your life. “8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord
require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with
your God?” Micah 6:8
ESV. Any burden incurred as we follow Jesus will
be easy to endure (see Matthew
11:29-30). Reject sin! Be good stewards of the gifts God gives us
everything we do in the name of Jesus brings us Joy and peace of
mind.
Can you hear Jesus
calling you? Do you want a more abundant
life? Do you want to find true
happiness, peace and purpose in your life?

Jan. 3,
2014 – Proverbs 5
Hear This
Warning Against Adultery!
Drink water from your
own reservoir, fresh water from your own well.
Proverbs
5 “Exhortations to wisdom. The evils of
licentiousness. (1-14) Remedies against licentiousness, The miserable end of the
wicked. (15-23)” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Proverbs 5 warns us against the sin
of adultery and the damage it can do to a family. We are to cling to our own spouse. “22 The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is held fast
in the cords of his sin. 23 He dies for
lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is led
astray.” Proverbs 5:22-23
(English
Standard Version) ESV.
The world may tell us that what we do when
out of town stays out of town. God’s
Word reminds us that when we sin we bring death into our relationship and life
(see
Matthew 5:27-29)! Sin is to our soul as
cancer is to our body (see
Romans 6:23). Living for Jesus will
bring us life a more abundant life. “11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all
people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live
self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,” Titus 2:11-12
ESV. The gift of God brings us eternal life in the
name of Jesus (see Ephesians
3:19-21). Jesus is the only Way
in; “9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will
go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and
destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good
shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the
sheep.” John 10:9-11
ESV.

Jan. 2,
2014 – Proverbs 4
Accepting
Our Father's Wise Instruction!
Do not
enter the path of the wicked, and do not associate ourselves with evil
doers.
Proverbs
4 “Exhortation to the study of wisdom. (1-13)
Cautions against bad company, Exhortation to faith and holiness. (14-27)” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Today we
prayerfully continue our Feast in the book of Proverbs Chapter
4
Proverbs 4 prompts us to be seeking
wisdom and separate ourselves from sinful people. We are to trust God with all our heart and
stay separate from the world. Seek faith
and practice holiness. “26 Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be
sure. 27 Do not swerve to the right or
to the left; turn your foot away from evil.” Proverbs 4:26-27
(English
Standard Version) ESV.
?”
The question is do we separate ourselves from wicked people? The answer is absolutely (see
Proverbs
4:14-15)!
When this question was posed to a religious leader of the largest church
in the world he said; “Who am I to judge?” That was not a proper Christian response! Concerning evil doers Jesus said that
believers should Watch and beware (see
Matthew 16:6). Being aware of evil does not equate to judging evil doers.
“14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what
partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light
with darkness? 15 What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a
believer share with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement has the temple of God with
idols? For we are the temple of the living God;…” 2 Corinthians
6:14-16
ESV. Don’t be fooled into condoning sin or the
sinner! Jesus knows your heart and those
who condone sinners are lost along with the sinners
(see Romans
1:32). Be aware of the actions and evidence of sin in
those you come in contact with.
Are you ready to be a
winner? Is Jesus calling out to you?
Do you want to be sure of your
future? Do you want to find true
happiness, peace and purpose in your life?
