July_13-15_2012 Luke 14-16

Dear  Saints,

This weekend we prayerfully continue Feasting in Luke14, through Luke 16.  Based on one of the parables we read this weekend I have a question, maybe one of you could answer it for me.  I was on a trip with a friend last week.   He asked me to pray for a friend who was deceased.  I told him if the person did not get his affairs and relationship with Jesus in order before he passed it was too late to pray for him now.  Please read the following quote from Luke 16, then tell me, was I correct?  “19 “There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. 20 And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, 21 who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, 23 and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. 24 And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ 27 And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house— 28 for I have five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ 29 But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”” Luke 16:19-31, English Standard Version (ESV).   I look forward to hearing your answers.  My friend also asked me;”What if he didn’t hear of Jesus in his life time?”  I said that wasn’t possible because he knew you.  Didn’t you tell him about God’s gift of His only begotten Son?  “16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3-16 ESV.   I once knew a man who didn’t know Jesus.  We played chess on Friday afternoon and that was when I should have told him.  I had every intention of telling him about God’s love on Monday.  When I inquired about him on Monday afternoon it seemed too late to me.  He died over the weekend.  Please let me know if it isn’t too late now?  Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11 ESV.   Have a good weekend, keep the first thing first.  That is salvation through the blood of the Lamb, Jesus.  I am not a Theologian.  So if I’m mistaken in the Feast or you want something added or changed on the prayer list.  http://www.admenu.com/am/praise.html.  Please write mlitew8@yahoo.comTo correspond with a pastor email Pastor Glen; evangelistglen@yahoo.com.  If the Lord is willing I’ll send and post the Feast again Monday.
