Jan. 21, 2014 – Proverbs 23
About Relationships & Children

“Here for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be a burden, for I seek not what is yours but you. For children are not obligated to save up for their parents, but parents for their children.” 2 Corinthians 12:14

Proverbs 23   Verses 1-3 God's restraints of the appetite only say, Do thyself no ( proverbs 23:4-5 ) this world are not happiness and a portion for a soul; those that hold them ever so fast, cannot hold them always, cannot hold them long. ( 6-8 ) . Do not make thyself burdensome to any, especially those not sincere. When we are called by God to his feast, and to let our souls delight themselves, Isa. 25:6 Isa. 55:2 |, we may safely partake of the Bread of life. Verse 9 . It is our duty to take all fit occasions to speak of Divine things; but if what a wise man says will not be heard, let him hold his ( proverbs 23:10-11 ) protection. He is their Redeemer, who will take their part; and he is mighty, almighty.” -  Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in the book of Proverbs Chapter 23.

Today’s Feast is about relationships.  There is nothing more important than the relationship between a person and Jesus.  Sobriety is addressed in today’s Feast. The relationship between a parent and children is so very important so there will I dwell for the day.  13 Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you strike him with a rod, he will not die.  14 If you strike him with the rod, you will save his soul from Sheol.  Proverbs 23:13-14  (English Standard Version) ESV.  God’s Word contains many commandments the first one that comes with a promise is the commandment that deals with the relationship between children and their parents (see Ephesians 6:2).  A child that is not raised with instruction in God’s Word is being cheated by the parents, Jesus said “Let the Children Come to Me”; (see Luke 18:15-17) and when we do they can be successful in Jesus.  7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. James 1:2-3  ESV.  As Christians it is up to us to instill Godly values in our children.  Parents must teach children whom to obey (see Colossians 3:20).  When children are raised to obey their parents they learn to please God (see Ephesians 6:1).  The world (Satan) will happily raise your children, but not unto salvation.  The promise of God’s salvation needs to be shared with our children (See Acts 2:38-39).   If are children are taught to obey Jesus and their parents (See 2 Corinthians 12:14) there will be peace in the family.
