Dec 7_2012 Acts 12
Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully read, Acts 12. The martyrdom of James, Christ told him that he should drink of the cup that he was to drink of, and be baptized with the baptism that he was to be baptized with. The imprisonment of Peter. An angel of God releases Peter from prison. Herod searched for Peter and he escapes, Herod’s rage. The death of Herod. “20 Now Herod was angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon, and they came to him with one accord, and having persuaded Blastus, the king’s chamberlain, they asked for peace, because their country depended on the king’s country for food. 21 On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne, and delivered an oration to them. 22 And the people were shouting, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!” 23 Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.
24 But the word of God increased and multiplied.
25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from[c] Jerusalem when they had completed their service, bringing with them John, whose other name was Mark.” Acts 12:22-25, English Standard Version (ESV). There is a good lesson to be learned here, never take credit for God’s work. If you read the scripture and understand what it said, when you share it remember to give credit to the Holy Spirit. “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,” John 11:25 ESV. We are saved and brought to good purpose by God. Give Him the credit for what your salvation accomplishes, keeping the first thing first, that is salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. The father sent Jesus to die for our sin. For you and I are unable to pay for our own trespasses. We must give God all the credit for the good works our salvation produces.

“I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.” John 10:14-15 ESV.
