Dec 3_2012 Acts 8

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully read, Acts 8. Trying to drive them from the Lord and their purpose, Saul persecutes the church. In spite of the persecution the good news spreads, Philip is successful at Samaria. Simon the sorcerer heard the good news and he believed was baptized. The lust for power turned Simon away from the path of righteousness. Philip meets and baptizes the Ethiopian. ”34 And the eunuch said to Philip, “About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else? ”35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus. 36 And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” 38 And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. 39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. 40 But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he passed through he preached the gospel to all the towns until he came to Caesarea.” Acts 8:34-40, English Standard Version (ESV). Take a look at our lives and the power we hold onto. If some person believes and wants to be baptized, even if the water is available, we have them make an appointment. Do you think this is what Jesus had in mind when he said; “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..!  “Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” John 6:35 ESV. We have need to read the this scripture, the Word of God. When we truly believe, then we can share Jesus with the same power that Philip did. Then truly we will be keeping the first thing first, that is salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.Being filled with the power, compassion and might of the Holy Spirit, we can share Jesus throughout this Earth.

[The Supremacy of God's Son] Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.” Hebrews 1:1-2 ESV.
