Truth in sin God’s Word! – 2 Sam 17

Nov 18_2012 II Sam 17

Dear Saints,

Hushai tells to Absalom that Ahithophel’s advice is bad, so Ahithophel’s counsel overthrown. Ahithophel hanged himself because his counsel was not followed. Then he hangs himself, Absalom pursues David. “27 When David came to Mahanaim, Shobi son of Nahash from Rabbah of the Ammonites, and Makir son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim 28 brought bedding and bowls and articles of pottery. They also brought wheat and barley, flour and roasted grain, beans and lentils, 29 honey and curds, sheep, and cheese from cows’ milk for David and his people to eat. For they said, “The people have become hungry and tired and thirsty in the desert.”” 2 Samuel 17:27-29, English Standard Version (ESV). Once again I would say it is better to keep your eyes on Jesus rather than men. Even if a profit has a word for you, hold the profits word up to God’s Word, to see if they line up. If they don’t, then you should follow God’s Word.

Thanksgiving devotional series by Pastor, Glen Aycock;

Ways of Saying Thank You
SCRIPTURE: Luke 17: 12-19
12 As he entered a village, ten men, all lepers, met him. They kept their distance
13 but raised their voices, calling out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 Taking a good look at them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” They went, and while still on their way, became clean.
15 One of them, when he realized that he was healed, turned around and came back, shouting his gratitude, glorifying God.
16 He kneeled at Jesus’ feet, so grateful. He couldn’t thank him enough—and he was a Samaritan.
17 Jesus said, “Were not ten healed? Where are the nine?
18 Can none be found to come back and give glory to God except this outsider?”
19 Then he said to him, “Get up. On your way. Your faith has healed and saved you.”
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS:
In today’s scripture we have the case of ten men in a desperate situation because they were lepers. That meant they were outcasts of society, no contact with loved ones. They had to live outside of the city alone and desperately sick with an incurable disease at that time in history. They cried for mercy from Jesus and Jesus never looks the other way when one cries out to him. He told them to go show themselves to the priest and be ceremonially declared healed. This would allow Grandfathers and dads and moms to return and hug their children and live a normal life. They turned and left and as they followed His instruction they were healed. Nine of them continued to the temple and only one of them returned and kneeled at Jesus’ feet and couldn’t thank him enough. Jesus asked a question that probed the conscience of the crowd. “Were not ten healed? Where are the nine? Can none be found to come back and give glory to God except this outsider?” This thanksgiving have you and your family talked about ways to give glory to God? Here are some suggestions.
Give groceries to a needy family or donate to the church food basket.
Check out this web site: http://www.worldvision.org .
Give a thanksgiving donation to a missionary serving overseas.
Jesus is interested in action that demonstrates gratefulness.
PRAYER THOUGHT:
Dear Jesus: Help us to see others in need through your eyes. Amen”

Saints we are followers of God, not men, no matter what their position. Give the authorities the respect their position requires, always keep the first thing first ,that is salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” John 17:17 ESV. Allow God to be your guide in this life, make all of your relationships count.
