Dec 23_2012 Acts 28

Dear Saints,

Thank you for sharing the Feast. Today we prayerfully read in, Acts 28. After seeing something different about him, Paul was kindly received at Melita. Paul arrives at Rome and many brothers there, came to the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to fellowship with him. Paul continues to share the good news, the Messiah Jesus as prophesied in the Old Testament with the Jews. Paul preaches to the Jews, and lives in Rome as a prisoner. ”28 Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen.”29: And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, having much dispute among themselves. 30 He lived there two whole years at his own expense, and welcomed all who came to him, 31 proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.” Acts 28:28-31. English Standard Version (ESV). Paul continues to share the good new boldly no matter his circumstances. I believe that we can learn a lot about God’s will and the purpose the Holy Spirit has for our lives as we continue to read the Word of God. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”” Luke 2:11-14 ESV. We are to prayerfully, lovingly and boldly carrying this same message to all persons. Keeping the first thing first. The gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus. You can carry this awesome, message in love to all people. Some may reject you and or the salvation message, to their own detriment. Many will accept Jesus, with an open heart. When they accept Jesus you will have more friends in the family of God! Matthew Henry phrased it well in his commentary on the 28th Chapter of of Acts; “…God can make strangers to be friends; friends in distress. Those who are despised for homely manners, are often more friendly than the more polished; and the conduct of heathens, or persons called barbarians, condemns many in civilized nations, professing to be Christians…”

[The Shepherds and the Angels] And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:8-11 ESV.
