Feb 23, 2013 - 1 Chronicles 13

Dear  Saints,

Today we prayerfully read the Feast in 1 Chronicles 13.   King David and all of Israel were of a single mind.  They were bringing home the ark of the covenant.   They were celebrating before God with all their might, with song and musical instruments; “9 And when they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah put out his hand to take hold of the ark, for the oxen stumbled. 10 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he put out his hand to the ark, and he died there before God.”1 Chronicles 13:9-10, English Standard Version (ESV). Uzzah was celebrating like everyone else. He was doing the same as those around him, when he died.  David was upset with God for taking Uzzah.  Now God had warned the Israelites that they would die if they touched the ark.  Even though Uzzah was helping to bring home the ark when he touched it should God have let home live?  No if he didn’t take Uzzah God would be a liar.  Should David have been mad at or afraid of God?    I don’t think so you see not only can’t God lie, God sees life beyond death differently than us.  “Do they not go astray who devise evil? Those who devise good meet steadfast love and faithfulness.”  Proverbs 14:22 ESV.  Saints I must say God isn’t a liar; he is God which means he is good through and through.  We must know God never changes!  If we do well and keep the first thing first.  That is salvation through the blood of the Lamb. If we love Jesus and fear God sharing his love with others; that is the means that justifies the end!
