Dear Saints,
I’ll start the Feast with a praise report; Today Sandra and I celebrate our forty-fifth wedding anniversary, Praise the Lord!
Let’s prayerfully read, 1 Kings 12. Today we see Rehoboam’s terrible treatment of the people. These actions cause ten tribes revolt. Jeroboam sets up idols, to purposely keep his subjects from worshipping the true God; “25 Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim and lived there. And he went out from there and built Penuel. 26 And Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now the kingdom will turn back to the house of David. 27 If this people go up to offer sacrifices in the temple of the Lord at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn again to their lord, to Rehoboam king of Judah, and they will kill me and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.” 28 So the king took counsel and made two calves of gold. And he said to the people, “You have gone up to Jerusalem long enough. Behold your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.” 29 And he set one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan. 30 Then this thing became a sin, for the people went as far as Dan to be before one. 31 He also made temples on high places and appointed priests from among all the people, who were not of the Levites. 32 And Jeroboam appointed a feast on the fifteenth day of the eighth month like the feast that was in Judah, and he offered sacrifices on the altar. So he did in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he made. And he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places that he had made. 33 He went up to the altar that he had made in Bethel on the fifteenth day in the eighth month, in the month that he had devised from his own heart. And he instituted a feast for the people of Israel and went up to the altar to make offerings.” 1 Kings 12:25-33. English Standard Version (ESV). When men’s actions are evil they will purposely avoid the true God. The plain truth is they will only have a harder life, losing all hope in their hearts. As for us we have a calling that will ask them to turn to Jesus; “[Called to Be Holy] Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:13 ESV. Our God is not willing that any should parish. This is why we need to keep the first thing first. That is the gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus. Share your hope with all people.

“Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.” Isaiah 1:16-17 ESV.
