8th Year 12-13 Edition 3 – 2nd Sam. 9

Nov 10 2012 II Sam 9

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully Feast in the book of 2 Samuel 9. David out of loyalty to Jonathan and his father Saul, sends for Mephibosheth. And provides for Jonathan's son Mephibosheth, David vows to take care of him from this time on. Once again when enemies array themselves against David, God delivers his enemies into his hands; 15 But when the Syrians saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they gathered themselves together. 16 And Hadadezer sent and brought out the Syrians who were beyond the Euphrates. They came to Helam, with Shobach the commander of the army of Hadadezer at their head. 17 And when it was told David, he gathered all Israel together and crossed the Jordan and came to Helam. The Syrians arrayed themselves against David and fought with him. 18 And the Syrians fled before Israel, and David killed of the Syrians the men of 700 chariots, and 40,000 horsemen, and wounded Shobach the commander of their army, so that he died there. 19 And when all the kings who were servants of Hadadezer saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with Israel and became subject to them. So the Syrians were afraid to save the Ammonites anymore.” 2 Samuel 8:15-19 English Standard Version (ESV). Like David we as a nation, should align ourselves with God. Tuning from the sin of a few who refuse to honor our God. Then our nation offering to serve His purposes, would be healed, God would once again be our protector. As a Christian Nation we need to truly “trust in God”.

Scripture: "Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven."

Dear People I want to share a letter written by my personal pastor, Dr. Joe Taylor. I challenge you to live in the spirit of God and keep praying for revival.

By now, the "40 Days of Prayer" emphasis with other churches across our nation is formally concluded, but our need to pray has only just begun. Obviously, God has allowed the people of our country to elect their leaders. And for many there is a great sadness at the results.

If the election results tell us anything it is that our country is divided on values and faith. Traditional Christian values are in decline. We must do a better job being the salt and light that God has called us to be. Society has changed its mind on so many things that God has not.

When people pray and hope and the outcome is not what we expected, then we often ask,’ why?" Some conclude that "prayer didn't work," or that "God didn't hear." We often get discouraged and even depressed, and although these emotions are perfectly alright to feel, they also are prone to make us more vulnerable to temptation or to withdraw to a closed heart. If these are your thoughts please consider that God allows all of us to choose to follow him or not. We prove that every day. Also, let me assure you that your prayers were heard by God and that God is the one who "works” and prayer is the vehicle that "carries forth the will of our God." That is why he taught us to pray "Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven." I have felt encouraged at all the prayer across our land and am absolutely convinced that we are all better because of it. Progress has been made. I have also been encouraged at all the daily prayer devotions written by so many in our church. This has shown me how thoughtful and "God-focused" our membership is.
Our first task is to stay close to God and to continue to say no to sin and follow Him daily. Our second task is to share the love of God and the good news of the gospel to those God gives us opportunity. We must continue to pray for our leaders that they too will respond to the call of God. And because the new appointments (for life) of the U.S. Supreme Court will reflect the sitting administration, we must pray for the health and safety for all Supreme Court Justices and their desire to complete this term.
I was uplifted by Max Lucado's comments: In a letter published on his blog, author and pastor Max Lucado comforted believers: "Let others lose sleep over the election. Let others grow bitter from party or petty rivalries. Let others cast their hope with the people of the elephant or the donkey. Not followers of Jesus. We place our trust in the work of God. ... How many kings has he seen come and go? How many nations has he seen stand and fall? He is above them all. And he oversees them all. So, while others get anxious, we don't. Here is what we do: we pray."

And one more thought: no matter who is president, Jesus is still Lord! And He will always be. Forever and Ever, AMEN!

Please be in church this Sunday. God has put an important message on my heart, and your pastor needs your support.”
In His Love, Joe”

God you are our savior, our first love and our leader. We turn from the false god's like elephants and donkeys, made gods by men, in Jesus name. We will keep the first thing first ,that is salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. “God thunders wondrously with his voice; he does great things that we cannot comprehend. For to the snow he says, ‘Fall on the earth,’ likewise to the downpour, his mighty downpour.” Job 37:5-6 ESV. Please continue to pray that God's will is done in our nation, as it is in God's kingdom.

Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” Isaiah 1:18 ESV.
