The Useless Vine

Today’s Feast
July 29, 2014-Ezekiel 15
The Useless Vine

Please join with us sharing God’s Word daily.  We will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in God’s Word in approximately three years.  Gods Not Dead!

If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. John 15:6

Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Ezekiel Chapter 15;
“Jerusalem like an unfruitful vine.
- If a vine be fruitful, it is valuable. But if not fruitful, it is worthless and useless, it is cast into the fire. Thus man is capable of yielding a precious fruit, in living to God; this is the sole end of his existence; and if he fails in this, he is of no use but to be destroyed. What blindness then attaches to those who live in the total neglect of God and of true religion! This similitude is applied to Jerusalem. Let us beware of an unfruitful profession. Let us come to Christ, and seek to abide in him, and to have his words abide in us.“ - Matthew Henry Concise.
God’s Word came to Ezekiel; concerning Jerusalem no longer producing fruit (see Ezekiel 15) it can only be used as firewood, once the ends are burnt and its middle is charred, it can’t be used for anything.  That nation as a whole no longer glorifies God; “I, the Lord God, promise that just as the wood of a grapevine is burned as firewood, I will punish the people of Jerusalem with fire. Some of them have escaped one destruction, but soon they will be completely burned. And when that happens, you, Ezekiel, will know that I am the Lord. I will make their country an empty wasteland, because they have not been loyal to me. I, the Lord God, have spoken. Ezekiel 15:6-8 English Standard Version (ESV).  God’s Word makes the future clear (see Matthew 3:10) for the person or nation who stops glorifying our Lord.  God has given each believer gifts with which to glorify God; “6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:6-8 ESV. Whatever gifts the Holy Spirit has blessed you with (see 1 Corinthians 13:1-3) use that gift of God tempered with love for God’s glory.  It is not enough to Just know who Jesus is; (see James 2:18-20) each of us must repent, ask Him in and lovingly produce good fruit.
