Jan 21, 2013 - 2 Kings 5

Dear  Saints,

Today we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 5.  The lesson learned secondly today is; never try to take credit or reward for God’s or another man’s work. Interestingly enough a small act of greed gave Gehazi leprosy in this chapter.  “25 He went in and stood before his master, and Elisha said to him, “Where have you been, Gehazi?” And he said, “Your servant went nowhere.” 26 But he said to him, “Did not my heart go when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Was it a time to accept money and garments, olive orchards and vineyards, sheep and oxen, male servants and female servants? 27 Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and to your descendants forever.” So he went out from his presence a leper, like snow.” 2 Kings 5:25-27 English Standard Version (ESV).   When God does a work through you be sure God gets all the glory.  The credit for God or anyone else’s work is not ours to take.  The first miracle was the curing of leprosy.  Elisha who delivered the directions wouldn’t go to Naaman.  He wanted God to get all the glory for healing Naaman.  “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” Galatians 6:7-8 ESV.  You can stand tall and let your light shine as a servant of the one true God.  Please keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  Jesus gives us more than salvation.  He gives us the capability to love our fellow men so much we’ll try to carry God’s message to them.  Let your light shine brightly.  Glory to God!

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:15-17 ESV.
