Dec 22_2012 Acts 27

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully read in, Acts 27. His faith in Jesus puts Paul on a voyage towards Rome. A dangerous storm bears down on Paul and his companions. God sends an angel to tell Paul all aboard the ship will be saved. Because of his faith in our Lord Paul instructs those with him so that all will be saved from the storm. They are shipwrecked, but because of the Holy Spirit work together so that they are all safe. ”42 The soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any should swim away and escape. 43 But the centurion, wishing to save Paul, kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and make for the land, 44 and the rest on planks or on pieces of the ship. And so it was that all were brought safely to land.” Acts 27:42-44. English Standard Version (ESV). You may think that it was coincidence that they were all saved. I tell you it was because of the Holy Spirit that they all were saved. As we can see by the soldiers plan to kill the prisoners, it’s not in man’s fleshly nature to work together that all might be saved. “[The Shepherds and the Angels] And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:8-11 ESV. Just as the angel revealed to the shepherds, there is a way that any person who will can be saved. In serving Jesus we are keeping the first thing first. The gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus. It’s is not in man’s fleshly nature to give up what won’t last for that which is good and eternal. Keep remembering Jesus first, not worldly things while we celebrate Christmas, with gifts and good will toward men. We can all be saved from the shipwrecked way of life, just as Paul and all those aboard their ship were.   I could pontificate forever, pray and let the Holy Spirit be your Guide!

And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.” Luke 2:6-7 ESV.
