Dec 13_2012 Acts 18

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully read in, Acts 18. Paul is staying in Corinth, with fellow tent makers Aquila and Priscilla. Paul trusts God and continues to preach at Corinth. Paul went before Gallio, who was indifferent to the gospel, didn’t consider Paul’s actions to be serious enough for punishment. He returns to Antioch, continuing to build the believers faith. Apollos teaches at Ephesus and in Achaia. “24 Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, competent in the Scriptures. 25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. 27 And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed, 28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the Scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.” Acts 18:24-28, English Standard Version (ESV). Priscilla and Aquila heard Apollos he was telling people to believe in Jesus. He only knew the baptism of John, rather than disagreeing with him they took him aside and and taught him. The lesson here is rather than causing a roe because you don’t agree with a saint, reason with them in private. Encouraging the saint in the love of Jesus. “and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet: “‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”” Matthew 2:4-6 ESV. Jesus is the Savior of all persons. Encourage people in his love!
