An Overview;

“Hosea is supposed to have been of the kingdom of Israel. He lived and prophesied during a long period. The scope of his predictions appears to be, to detect, reprove, and convince the Jewish nation in general, and the Israelites in particular, of their many sins, particularly their idolatry: the corrupt state of the kingdom is also noticed. But he invites them to repentance, with promises of mercy, and gospel predictions of the future restoration of the Israelites and of the Jews, and their final conversion to Christianity.” - Matthew Henry Concise.

Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Joel Chapter 1; “A plague of locusts. (1-7) All sorts of people are called to lament it. (8-13) They are to look to God.(14-20)
Verses 1-7 The most aged could not remember such calamities as were about to take place... The more earthly delights we make needful to satisfy us, the more we expose ourselves to trouble
Verses 8-13 All who labour only for the meat that perishes, will, sooner or later, be ashamed of their labour… But how blessed are the awakening judgments of God, in rousing his people and calling home the heart to Christ, and his salvation!
Verses 14-20 The sorrow of the people is turned into repentance and humiliation before God… Whatever may become of the nations and churches that persist in ungodliness, believers will find the comfort of acceptance with God, when the wicked shall be burned up with his indignation“ - Matthew Henry Concise
Joel’s prayer, for God’s people; “19 To you, O LORD, I call. For fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and flame has burned all the trees of the field. 20 Even the beasts of the field pant for you because the water brooks are dried up, and fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.Joel 1:19-20 English Standard Versions (ESV). God continually calls whole nations and every person (see 2 Peter 3:9) to give up whatever is hurting or killing them in repentance.  In keeping with repentance and a humble heart; 1 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. 2 Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips. Proverbs 27:1-2 ESV.  No person or nation will (see Matthew 11:20-21) survive without repentance and acceptance of Jesus.  Every person who repents and calls Jesus their Lord (see John 3:16) will have an abundant life everlasting.  There is no name other name than Jesus (see Acts 4:12) that men can call on to be saved.
Are you ready to trust God? Today is the day of your salvation!  Don’t wait another minute to leave, change or quit anything (see Revelation 3:20) Jesus is at knocking at your door this minute.  He wants you to come just as you are! Do you hear Jesus calling you?  Will you answer Him today?
