Purposeful Direction!

Today’s Feast Feb. 29, 2016 – 2 Kings 2 Purposeful Direction! clic aquí en español Please join with us sharing God’s Word daily. We will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in God’s Word in approximately three years. “120 In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me.”  Psalm 120:1, English Standard Version (ESV) Return to Admenu – Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in 2 Kings Chapter 2; “Elijah divides Jordan. (1-8) Elijah is taken up into heaven. (9-12) Elisha is manifested to be Elijah's successor. (13-18) Elisha heals the waters of Jericho, Those that mocked Elisha destroyed. (19-25)” - Matthew Henry Concise. Today we continue in 2nd Kings by prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 2.  Another miracle from the prophet Elijah, he divides the Jordan River.  Elisha stays with Elijah until he is taken up into heaven. Elisha sees Elijah depart in God’s chariot so he is manifested to be Elijah’s successor.   Elisha heals the waters of Jericho, by placing salt in it as directed by God. Those that mocked Elisha were destroyed; “23 He went up from there to Bethel, and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead! ”23 He went up from there to Bethel, and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!” 24 And he turned around, and when he saw them, he cursed them in the name of the Lord. And two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two of the boys. 25 From there he went on to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.” 2 Kings 2:23-25, ESV.   God called Elisha to follow Elijah.  In spite of being urged to turn back Elisha kept on track holding fast to the path God called him to walk.  He was rewarded for his persistence.  Listen Christians God called us to follow his son, Jesus. Stay on track in the race and God has more rewards for us.  God called us for a purpose, beyond going to church twice a week.  “13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13, ESV.  God has a purpose for us; it is up to us to stay on track. Live a Christ centered life and depend on Jesus for the strength and the Holy Spirit for direction to keep the first thing first. Our salvation depends completely on God! We are the Saints that Jesus sacrificed his life to pay in full for our sin, when we repent and accept Jesus. He will come to get every Saint; “36 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” Matthew 24:36, ESV.
