Whom do we honor? – 1Kings 2
Dec 27_2012 1 Kings 2
Dear Saints,
Thank you for sharing the Feast with us. Today we prayerfully read in, 1 Kings 2. David’s is dying and he tells Solomon to obey the laws of God. David’s tells Solomon how to deal with Joab and others. Solomon is installed on the throne, for trying to take the throne Adonijah is put to death. Abiathar is banned from being a priest to the Lord, Joab put to death for killing righteous men. Shimei is put to death; ”42 the king sent and summoned Shimei and said to him, “Did I not make you swear by the Lord and solemnly warn you, saying, ‘Know for certain that on the day you go out and go to any place whatever, you shall die’? And you said to me, ‘What you say is good; I will obey.’ 43 Why then have you not kept your oath to the Lord and the commandment with which I commanded you?” 44 The king also said to Shimei, “You know in your own heart all the harm that you did to David my father. So the Lord will bring back your harm on your own head. 45 But King Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the Lord forever.” 46 Then the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck him down, and he died.” 1 Kings 1:49:53. English Standard Version (ESV). Sin is like a cancer, which keeps eating away unnoticed for a while. We should listen to David’s instructions to Solomon. We need to obey God and keep his precepts. “[Bless the LORD, O My Soul] Of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,” Psalm 103:1-2 ESV. In all our ways we should honor Jesus. Share his love and keep the first thing first. The gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus. Let our very souls praise the Lord!

“he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” Luke 2:28-32 ESV.
