Make Jesus Lord of All! – 2 Sam 18

Nov 19_2012 II Sam 18

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully read, 2nd Samuel 18. David stood at the side of the gate, while his men defeated Absalom’s army. King David’s son is slain, by Joab and his armor-bearers. Though God gave him victory in battle, because of his sin, David’s wrought with sorrow over the death of Absalom. “32 The king said to the Cushite, “Is it well with the young man Absalom?” And the Cushite answered, “May the enemies of my lord the king and all who rise up against you for evil be like that young man.” 33 And the king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And as he went, he said, “O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I had died instead of you, O Absalom, my son, my son!”” 2 Samuel 18:32-33, English Standard Version (ESV). Sin really is like cancer, in that the destruction comes back to persons unexpectedly at diverse times. Though David is king serving under God’s protection, his sin has caused him to be disciplined for not raising Absalom, with a godly upbringing.

GET OR GIVING
SCRIPTURE: Col 2:7:
Rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving
GET OR GIVING”
The advertisements are out telling you of the specials on “Black Friday”. The day after we celebrate Thanksgiving is the busiest day with shoppers waiting in line for the store to open. We men usually avoid this like the plague. It’s not uncommon to see people getting in fights trying to claim the last of merchandise. I would propose to you that we should dedicate ourselves to “being built up in Him”. Perhaps this might be the time to pledge to reading the Bible daily or giving a special offering of thank You this coming Sunday. Perhaps writing a thank you to your pastor and wife for their faithfulness in preaching the word would be a blessing you could give. As a pastor I can tell you that a word of appreciation fitly spoken is much appreciated. I challenge you to find someone to bless this Thanksgiving. I am excited about the impact that we can make for Christ on our community. Do not forget to pray for the peace of Jerusalem in accordance to Gods instruction. Now is also the time to get together Christmas baskets for our military serving overseas in the path of danger. Let us establish a stronghold of faith and abound with Thanksgiving. God bless as you show your thanks.
PRAYER THOUGHT:
Dear Jesus make us aware of our blessings and excited about the opportunity to spread joy to others as our offering of Thanks. Amen!”

Jesus is our leader, we need to raise our children, live and treat others with that in mind.. Continue to follow Jesus, keeping the first thing first, that is salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. “[Book One The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked] Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.” Psalm 1:1-2 ESV. As you serve God avoid sin, making Jesus Lord of your life.
