When do we give glory to God?
April 17, 2013 - 2 Chronicles 26
Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully, continue to Feast in 2 Chronicles 26. Uzziah's reign was good in Judah because he
started out pleasing God. When Uzziah was strong, he stopped recognizing God
as his protector. His pride led to his destruction. Uzziah attempted to ignore God’s order to
burn incense. “16
But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was
unfaithful to the Lord his God and entered the temple of the Lord to burn
incense on the altar of incense. 17 But Azariah the priest went in after him,
with eighty priests of the Lord who were men of valor, 18 and they withstood
King Uzziah and said to him, “It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to
the Lord, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn
incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have done wrong, and it will bring
you no honor from the Lord God.”’ 2
Chronicles 26:16-18 English Standard Version (ESV). Somehow the flesh tends to lead us away from
Jesus when everything is going great.
We need to cling to the Lord whether things are great or we are
seeking his help. Many years ago I
read a sign in front of a church building; “Jesus is not a spare tire to be
used in case of emergency.” Remember
to give God the Glory in all things and seek Jesus in all circumstance. “[ Christ the Wisdom and Power of God ] For the word of the cross is
folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the
power of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:18 ESV. Our righteousness in in Jesus and not of
ourselves. Keep your eyes on Jesus in
all situations. Let us take a lesson
from the apostle Paul; “11 Not that I am speaking of
being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every
circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger,
abundance and need.” Philippians 4:11-12 ESV. We
need to keep giving Jesus the glory in all things including abundance and
need.
