Content? Joshua 16

7th Year 11-12 Edition 3 – Jos 16
l The Feast l

August 8_2012 Joshua 16

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in Joshua 16. Today we see the boundaries of the lands as they were allotted to the people of Joseph. God is giving each tribe their allotment. “ The allotment of the people of Joseph went from the Jordan by Jericho, east of the waters of Jericho, into the wilderness, going up from Jericho into the hill country to Bethel. 2 Then going from Bethel to Luz, it passes along to Ataroth, the territory of the Archites. 3 Then it goes down westward to the territory of the Japhletites, as far as the territory of Lower Beth-horon, then to Gezer, and it ends at the sea.” Joshua 16:1-3 English Standard Version (ESV). Do you think that the tribes are content with their allotment. Are their neighbors truly happy for them? When we can be truly content in our life, then we can truly happy for our brother. We get a peak early in the creation at the pain Satan can inflict when a person is not content with God's blessings in their life. Because Cain did not do well with his offering to God, he couldn't be happy for Abel when God accepted his offering. 5 but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell. 6 The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.”” Genesis 4:5-7 ESV. Cain failed in his attempt to please God. He could have made it right and been content in his relationship with God. We see what happened because he didn't do well he killed his brother. Have you ever had a friend or relative get a good gift? Look inside of yourself and see if you were truly happy for them. It's in our nature to say that's great, while inside we think to ourselves; “That lucky duck, that should have been me!” Saint's what we need to do strive to please God. When we are content in our relationship with Jesus, then we can be truly happy when others receive a blessing. The apostle Paul, whose, example we need to follow said it well. “10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.“ Philippians 4:10-12 (ESV). This came from his heart, he learned to be content no matter what his physical situation was. That's because his relationship with Jesus was spot on! Take your relationship with Jesus all the way to the top. “For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation.” Psalm 149:4 ESV. We are continuing to keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of Jesus.
