First Things First!

First Things First!
Sept. 23, 2013 – Psalms 49

Today’s Feast

Psalms Chapter 49 - “A call for attention. (1-5) Folly of worldlings. (6-14) Against fear of death. (15-20)- Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 49. The psalmist entreats us to not envy the “Rich Man”,  for he can’t take the glory of his money with him.   “17 For when he dies he will carry nothing away;
    his glory will not go down after him.
18 For though, while he lives, he counts himself blessed
    —and though you get praise when you do well for yourself—
19 his soul will go to the generation of his fathers,
    who will never again see light.
20 Man in his pomp yet without understanding is like the beasts that perish.”   Psalm 49:8-9 - English Standard Version (ESV).  Money doesn’t endure but the love of God endures forever.  God’s word entreats us to seek Jesus, and all of his righteousness.

 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.Matthew 6:33 ESV
