Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully Feast in Nehemiah 5; The
Jews were mortgaging their land and houses to get grain because of the
famine. Nehemiah was angry about how the people were putting their own people
under bondage for profit. Nehemiah sets the example by showing mercy and
forgiving any debts owed to himself; “18 Now what was prepared at my
expense for each day was one ox and six choice sheep and birds, and
every ten days all kinds of wine in abundance. Yet for all this I did
not demand the food allowance of the governor, because the service was too
heavy on this people.19 Remember for my good, O my God, all
that I have done for this people.” Nehemiah
5:18-19, English Standard Version (ESV). How are we supposed
to treat those who are in debt to us? No matter what they owe us we must
not charge interest. ““You shall not charge interest on loans to your
brother, interest on money, interest on food, interest on anything that is
lent for interest.” Deuteronomy 23:19 ESV. There is no
ambiguity there, and what did we read today in Nehemiah; “10 Moreover, I and my brothers
and my servants are lending them money and grain. Let us abandon this
exacting of interest.” Nehemiah
5:10, ESV. God never changes He is the same today, yesterday
and forever. If you have an opportunity to help another person dot
charge them interest and God will reward you. If you charge
interest your reward and condemnation is in the interest you received. If the
Lord is willing I will send and post the Feast again tomorrow.

Brother Mike
