Today’s FeastOct. 19, 2015 – Judges 21Free Of Sin And Condemnation?
Please
join with us sharing God’s Word daily. We will spend about
fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in God’s
Word in approximately three years.
“4
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of
your heart."
Psalm
37:4,
English
Standard Version (ESV).
Dear
Saints,
Thank
you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in Judges
Chapter
21;
“The
Israelites lament for the Benjamites.
-
Israel lamented for the Benjamites, and were perplexed by the oath
they had taken, not to give their daughters to them in marriage.
Men are more zealous to support their own authority than that of
God. They would have acted better if they had repented of their
rash oaths, brought sin-offerings, and sought forgiveness in the
appointed way, rather than attempt to avoid the guilt of perjury
by actions quite as wrong. That men can advise others to acts of
treachery or violence, out of a sense of duty, forms a strong
proof of the blindness of the human mind when left to itself, and
of the fatal effects of a conscience under ignorance and error.”
- Matthew
Henry Concise.
Once
again we see mans mouth putting him in direct trouble from the
Lord. In their anger they swore not to give their daughters to the
men of the tribe of Benjamin. Now that they have made peace with
them they cannot give them wives. “16
Then the elders of the congregation said, “What shall we do for
wives for those who are left, since the women are destroyed out of
Benjamin?” 17 And they said, “There must be an inheritance for
the survivors of Benjamin, that a tribe not be blotted out from
Israel. 18 Yet we cannot give them wives from our daughters.”
For the people of Israel had sworn, “Cursed be he who gives a
wife to Benjamin.””
Judges
21:16-18,
ESV. Once again if they had consulted with God prior to taking an
oath they may not be against the wall. I’ve heard men say; ”God
laughs at the plans of men.” I think God groans when men take an
oath instead of consulting Him. “2
If a man vows a vow to the LORD, or swears an oath to bind himself
by a pledge, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to
all that proceeds out of his mouth.”
Numbers
30:2,
ESV. God puts great stock in the word of man. Remember God spoke
heaven and earth into existence. He continues to tell us not to
swear an oath even in the new testament. “5
But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by
earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your
“no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.”
James
5:12,
ESV. Jesus died for us once to set us free from sin. God doesn’t
want us putting ourselves under condemnation. He wants us to
continue free of sin and condemnation. Do we continue to
appreciate and love Jesus? If the answer is yes take heed; “Jesus
answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my
Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home
with him.”
John
14:23, ESV. Let’s continue to keep the first thing first.
That is salvation through the blood of the lamb, Jesus.
Don’t
get caught up in “religion”, it is about a relationship. Our
salvation depends completely on God! We are the Saints that Jesus
sacrificed his life to pay in full for our sin, when we repent and
accept Jesus. He will coe to get every Saint; “36
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the
angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”
Matthew
24:36,
ESV. We are building our relationship with Jesus right now, do not
wait while you try to change anything. Click this link for more
