Today’s FeastOct. 18, 2015 – Judges 20Do We Love One Another?
Please
join with us sharing God’s Word daily. We will spend about
fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in God’s
Word in approximately three years.
“27
Wait
for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for
the Lord!"
Psalm
27:14,
English
Standard Version (ESV).
Dear
Saints,
Thank
you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue the Feast in Judges
Chapter
20;
“The
tribe of Benjamin nearly extirpated.
-
The Israelites' abhorrence of the crime committed at Gibeah, and
their resolution to punish the criminals, were right; but they
formed their resolves with too much haste and self-confidence. The
eternal ruin of souls will be worse, and more fearful, than these
desolations of a tribe.”
- Matthew
Henry Concise.
No
matter what you enter into seek God’s will first. We see that
when the Israelites acted in haste they all payed a price. “19
Then the people of Israel rose in the morning and encamped against
Gibeah. 20 And the men of Israel went out to fight against
Benjamin, and the men of Israel drew up the battle line against
them at Gibeah. 21 The people of Benjamin came out of Gibeah and
destroyed on that day 22,000 men of the Israelites.”
Judges
20:19-21,
ESV.
I think that if they had consulted with God prior to declaring
they
were
getting even, then they would have had victory from he start. “27
And the people of Israel inquired of the Lord (for the ark of the
covenant of God was there in those days, 28 and Phinehas the son
of Eleazar, son of Aaron, ministered before it in those days),
saying, “Shall we go out once more to battle against our
brothers, the people of Benjamin, or shall we cease?” And the
Lord said, “Go up, for tomorrow I will give them into your
hand.””
Judges
20:27-28,
ESV. God himself tells us that vengeance is his. He says if people
will turn from their wicked ways and ask him he will heal their
lands. “7
if
my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear
from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
2
Chronicles 7:14,
ESV.
What about us, we call ourselves Christians, are we Gods people?
Is there a way to tell the world we are God’s people? “34
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just
as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this
all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love
for one another.””
John
13:34-35,
ESV. Saints if we truly love one another as Jesus loved us we will
keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of
the lamb, Jesus.
Don’t
get caught up in “religion”, it is about a relationship. Our
salvation depends completely on God! We are the Saints that Jesus
sacrificed his life to pay in full for our sin, when we repent and
accept Jesus. He will coe to get every Saint; “36
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the
angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”
Matthew
24:36,
ESV. We are building our relationship with Jesus right now, do not
wait while you try to change anything. Click this link for more
