Dear  Saints,


Let’s prayerfully read, 1 Kings 12 together today.  We see Jeroboam uses altars made for false gods to make offerings. God sends a message but he ignores it. The prophet that carries the message is deceived.  The disobedient prophet is slain.  Jeroboam never turns from his sin.  29 And the prophet took up the body of the man of God and laid it on the donkey 30 And he laid the body in his own grave. And they mourned over him, saying, “Alas, my brother!” 31 And after he had buried him, he said to his sons, “When I die, bury me in the grave in which the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones. 32 For the saying that he called out by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel and against all the houses of the high places that are in the cities of Samaria shall surely come to pass.”  1 Kings 13:29-32.  English Standard Version (ESV).   Whenever a person disobeys God, there are consequences.   When our God gives you a purpose follow it thru to the end.  Even though the profit disobeyed God, he was still honored as a man of God. “[Walk in Love] Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2 ESV. Our God has saved us to be witnesses not judges.  We are to keep the first thing first. That is the gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  If you see a brother sister, anyone straying from the path, approach them as the gospel instructs; “15 “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.” Matthew 18:15-17 ESV.

7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
Suffering for Doing Good
8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. 9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 10 For,
“Whoever would love life
    and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
    and their lips from deceitful speech. 
11 They must turn from evil and do good;
    they must seek peace and pursue it. 
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
    and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

DEVOTIONAL:
What an assignment for us men. Look at the list summary.
  • 1.     Live considerately with your wife.
  • 2.     Honor your wife with an intelligent recognition of the marriage relationship.
  • 3.     Realizing your wife is the physically weaker but a Joint Heir of the Grace of God. If you don’t do this you will not be able to pray effectively.
  • 4.     Be of the same Mind (united in spirit).
  • 5.     Sympathizing with each other.
  • 6.     Loving each other.
  • 7.     Compassionate.
  • 8.     Courteous of each other (tenderhearted and humble)
  • 9.     Never return evil for evil.(scolding, tongue lashing, berating).
  • 10. Desire peaceful relations with God, fellowmen, and yourselves. Pursue it!
  • 11. Remember the eyes of the Lord are on you. You are being monitored 24 hrs a day!
PRAYER THOUGHT:
Dear Jesus these instructions from your Word are clear and leave us no excuse for not following them. Please make every man that reads this ask for your help to be a righteous (in right relationship with God) to our wife and fellowman and self. May our homes reflect oneness of /spirit with no exceptions. Amen
