June 1, 2013 – Nehemiah 13

Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully Feast in Nehemiah 13. It’s very important for us to understand where God’s people turned for instruction. Let’s look at the first three versus of today’s Feast; “1 On that day they read from the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people. And in it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever enter the assembly of God, 2 for they did not meet the people of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them—yet our God turned the curse into a blessing. 3 As soon as the people heard the law, they separated from Israel all those of foreign descent. Nehemiah 13:1:3 English Standard Version (ESV).  They turned to the Word of God!  This is a very important piece of information.  If we depend on others to tell us what the Word of God says we don’t have a clue.  We would be leaning on our understandings of what other people say is the Word of God.  If we pray and listen to or read the Word of God we have, God’s Word for what we understand. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.  When we pray and read the Word of God we are preparing ourselves for his work.   This is why the study part (praying & reading the chapters) of the Feast is so important.  The Word of God tells us to study to show ourselves approved, just workmen with a right understanding of God’s Word (see 2 Timothy 2:15).  Also God said we need to hear every word that proceeds from his mouth to live (see Matthew 4:4).  If you know Jesus, pray and read the Word of God from beginning to end no one will be able to deceive you (see Galatians 1:6-9)!  I’ve heard people say; ”I wish I had that kind of faith!”  If anyone wants to have “that kind” of faith they can Join us in the Feast, praying and reading every Word in the Bible spending about fifteen minutes a day in God’s Word. We know where faith comes from; “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” Romans 10:17.  So when someone says; “I wish I had that kind of faith!” You can help them.

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 ESV.
