Today’s Feast
A Willing
Heart?
Please join with us sharing God’s Word daily. We will spend about
fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in God’s Word in
approximately three years.
“7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose
trust is the Lord.” Jeremiah 17:7, English Standard Version
(ESV)
Dear
Saints,
Today we prayerfully read
our Feast in 2 Kings, Chapter 23; “Josiah reads the law, and renews the covenant. (1-3) He destroys idolatry. (4-14) The reformation extended to Israel, A
passover kept. (15-24) Josiah slain by Pharaoh-nechoh. (25-30) Wicked reigns of Jehoahaz and Jehoiakim. (31-37)” - Matthew Henry Concise.
Today
we are prayerfully reading, 2 Kings 23. King
Josiah turns to the Lord, when he hears the words of the Book of the
Covenant. There was no king like Josiah, who turned to the Lord
with all his heart and soul. There was no Kings before or after him that
turned to God like Josiah. The Lord was still angry with
Judah, because of Manasseh’s sin. Our merciful God took Josiah,
before he kindled his wrath against Judah and Jerusalem; “19 And Josiah removed all the shrines also of the high places that were in
the cities of Samaria, which kings of Israel had made, provoking the Lord to
anger. He did to them according to all that he had done at Bethel. 20 And he
sacrificed all the priests of the high places who were there, on the altars, and
burned human bones on them. Then he returned to Jerusalem.“ 2nd
Kings 23:19-20, ESV. Because Josiah’s heart was with God he
never saw or endured the dissolution of the Holy Land. Because we can’t
imagine the mind of God or the manner of life with him we almost never see
death as a blessing. Sometimes we may wish death of our enemies while they
are still in sin. “[Love Your Enemies] “43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You
shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love
your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so
that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun
rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the
unjust.”” Matthew
5:43-45, ESV. It is easy to recognize that our earthly ways
are not God like. We can see here in Matthew that God is not
willing that any should depart this life in sin. Therefore we need
to keep the first thing first! That is salvation through the blood of
the Lamb. Our goal is to serve God with a willing heart. If the Lord is willing I
will post and send the Feast again tomorrow.
