Dear  Saints,

Today we prayerfully read, 1 Kings 21.  Ahab is guilty of sin the moment he covets another man’s property.  Jezebel helps Ahab obtain land by killing the owner.  Because a man is the head of the house and is one in with his wife in God’s eyes, God condemns Ahab and his family to death.  Elijah delivered the judgment to Ahab, and Ahab repents; “27 And when Ahab heard those words, he tore his clothes and put sackcloth on his flesh and fasted and lay in sackcloth and went about dejectedly. 28 And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, 29 “Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the disaster in his days; but in his son's days I will bring the disaster upon his house.”” 1 Kings 21:27-29. English Standard Version (ESV).   Look at Ahab’s position, he is guilty of murder and larceny.  He is responsible for the crime committed by Jezebel.  Then he truly repents and turns to God for mercy.  God is true to forgive him!      “[The Truth Will Set You Free] So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”” John 8:31-32 ESV.  When you sin or your dependents sin you are obligated to take appropriate action, repent and ask God for forgiveness.  Remember sin is cancer to our lives with Jesus.  That is why we keep the first thing first. That is salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  When you repent and ask Jesus to forgive you, if you are truly repentant his is true to forgive you.  You can’t pay for one sin; Jesus paid the price for all sin.

If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.” 1 John 4:20-21 ESV.
