How Lonely Sits the City

The Best of the Feast
Lamentations
Aug. 24, 2017 – Lamentations 1
How Lonely Sits the City

Please join us sharing God’s Word daily.  We will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in God’s Word in approximately three years.  Gods Not Dead!

“15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.” Colossians 3:15 New King James Version (NKJV).

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Lamentations Chapter 1; It is evident that Jeremiah was the author of the Lamentations which bear his name. The book was not written till after the destruction of Jerusalem by the Chaldeans. May we be led to consider sin as the cause of all our calamities, and under trials exercise submission, repentance, faith, and prayer, with the hope of promised deliverance through God's mercy.” – Matthew Henry Concise Commentary

The prophet speaks of Jerusalem, as a distressed female voice (Lamentations 1:1-11) and the LORD’s anger is just in dealing with transgressions.  The Lord is punishing Jerusalem (Daniel 9:16) because of her sins against God.  In the time of their end (Lamentations 1:12-22) His people are struggling under the weight of their sin; “21 "They have heard that I sigh, But no one comforts me. All my enemies have heard of my trouble; They are glad that You have done it. Bring on the day You have announced, That they may become like me.
22 "Let all their wickedness come before You, And do to them as You have done to me For all my transgressions; For my sighs are many, And my heart is faint."
Lamentations 1:21-22 NKJV.  God is not willing for any people to die in their sins (John 3:16) all they need do is repent and ask Him for forgiveness in Jesus name.  “6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”  Philippians 1:6 NKJV.  As Christians, it is up to us to foil that loneliness (Matthew 5:14) by bringing God’s Word to a lost and dying world.  If the Lord is willing I will write and share the Feast tomorrow.

Today’s Verse; “[ Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death ] I love the Lord, because He has heard My voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.” Psalm 116:1-2  NKJV.

God Bless you,
