Dec. 31,
2013 – Proverbs 2
What’s
The Value of Wisdom?
You will understand the
fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
Proverbs
2 “Promises to those who seek wisdom. (1-9)
The advantages of wisdom. (10-22)” -
Matthew Henry Concise
Dear
Saints,
Today we thank
God for the blessings of 2013 and look forward to serving Jesus in the New
Year! We prayerfully continue our Feast
in the book of Proverbs
Chapter
2
Proverbs 2 Points out the values and
promises awaiting the believer who seeks wisdom. “21 For the upright will inhabit the land, and those with integrity
will remain in it, 22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the
treacherous will be rooted out of it” Proverbs 2:21-22
(English
Standard Version) ESV.
We should prefer the wisdom,
understanding and fear of God over Gold and Silver (see
Proverbs 2:4-5). Jesus said; “I am
sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.” Therefor we must seek the wisdom of God to
accomplish our mission for Jesus. God’s
Word tells us how to prepare for spiritual warfare (see Ephesians 6:10-18).
“18 “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of
old. 19 Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the
desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19
ESV. Let’s join Jesus in bringing forth this new thing. Jesus has a purpose for you; seek God’s wisdom
and Jesus’ righteousness (see Matthew
6:33). The Holy
Spirit will give you what you need when you need it (see John 14:26). Ask God for wisdom; it comes with purpose and
promise (see James 3:17).
Is Jesus calling to
you? Do you want to answer before God
stops calling? Do you want to find true
happiness, peace and purpose in your life?

Dec. 30,
2013– Proverbs 1
What’s
The Beginning Of Knowledge?
If we turn at God’s
reproof, He will pour out His Holy Spirit to you.
Proverbs an overview;
“The subject of this book may be thus stated by an
enlargement on the opening verses. 1. The Proverbs of Solomon, the son of David,
king of Israel. 2. Which treat of the knowledge of wisdom, of piety towards God,
of instruction and moral discipline, of the understanding wise and prudent
counsels. 3. Which treat of the attainment of instruction in wisdom, which
wisdom is to be shown in the conduct of life, and consists in righteousness with
regard to our fellow-creatures. 4. Which treat of the giving to the simple
sagacity to discover what is right, by supplying them with just principles, and
correct views of virtue and vice; and to the young man knowledge, so that he
need not err through ignorance; and discretion, so that by pondering well these
precepts, he may not err through obstinacy. Take the proverbs of other nations,
and we shall find great numbers founded upon selfishness, cunning, pride,
injustice, national contempt, and animosities. The principles of the Proverbs of
Solomon are piety, charity, justice, benevolence, and true prudence. Their
universal purity proves that they are the word of God.” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Proverbs
1 “The use of the Proverbs. (1-6)
Exhortations to fear God and obey parents. (7-9) To avoid the enticings of
sinners. (10-19) The address of Wisdom to sinners. (20-33)” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Today we
prayerfully continue our Feast in the book of Proverbs Chapter
1
The proverbs of Solomon, begins by
pointing out the wisdom of fearing God. Avoid the temptations of sinners because sin
takes away the life of the trespasser. Wisdom
cries out a warning against scoffers and the fools dislike of knowledge. “32 For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the
complacency of fools destroys them; 33 but whoever listens to me will dwell
secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.” Proverbs 1:32-33
(English
Standard Version) ESV.
Proverbs shouts out the wisdom in
aligning our life with God’s precious gift of salvation (see
John 3:16-18). In Jesus we will find
comfort and rest. “33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the
world.” John 16:33 ESV.
Today is the day of salvation there is still work to be
done. Every attempt we make to share the
love of God has the potential to bring joy to the angels in heaven (see Luke
15:10)!
The potential for bringing new believers to join in the
harvest.
The fear of the Lord is
the beginning of knowledge! Hallelujah!
Do you hear Jesus
calling to you? Do you want to know how
to answer him? Do you want to find true
happiness, peace and purpose in your life?

Dec. 29,
2013– 2 Thessalonians
3
We Are
Warned Against Idleness!
2 Thessalonians
3 “The apostle expresses confidence in the
Thessalonians, and prays for them. (1-5) He charges them to withdraw from
disorderly walkers, particularly from the lazy and busybodies. (6-15) And
concludes with a prayer for them, and a greeting. (16-18)” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
In the third chapter Paul requests
prayer and warns against lazy busy bodies.
He closes with this benediction; “16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times
in every way. The Lord be with you all.
17 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. This is the sign of
genuineness in every letter of mine; it is the way I write. 18 The grace of our
Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16-18
(English
Standard Version) ESV. Idle busy bodies
bring shame on the Word of God as well as their selves (see Matthew 12:36-37). Jesus himself gave us a
work plan for the Saints (see
Matthew 28:16-20) today. “1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also
in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have
told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may
be also.” Matthew 11:28 ESV.
Remember
your faith will be accompanied with action (see
James 2:20). I can assure you faith without works is dead.
Let the Word of God direct us in all we
do and say thusly honoring Jesus until He comes for
us.
Is Jesus calling to
you? Do you want to know God’s
love? Do you want to find true
happiness, peace and purpose in your life?

Dec. 28,
2013– 2 Thessalonians 1-2
The Judgment at
Christ's Coming!
This is evidence of the
righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of
God.
2
Thessalonians Overview;
“The second epistle to the Thessalonians was written soon after the first. The
apostle was told that, from some expressions in his first letter, many expected
the second coming of Christ was at hand, and that the day of judgment would
arrive in their time. Some of these neglected their worldly duties. St. Paul
wrote again to correct their error, which hindered the spread of the gospel. He
had written agreeably to the words of the prophets of the Old Testament; and he
tells them there were many counsels of the Most High yet to be fulfilled, before
that day of the Lord should come, though, because it is sure, he had spoken of
it as near. The subject led to a remarkable foretelling, of some of the future
events which were to take place in the after-ages of the Christian church, and
which show the prophetic spirit the apostle possessed. ” - Matthew
Henry Concise
2 Thessalonians
1 “The apostle blesses God for the growing
state of the love and patience of the Thessalonians. (1-4) And encourages them
to persevere under all their sufferings for Christ, considering his coming at
the great day of account. (5-12)” -
Matthew Henry Concise
2 Thessalonians
2 “Cautions against the error that the time
of Christ's coming was just at hand. There would first be a general apostacy
from the faith, and a revealing of the antichristian man of sin. (1-4) His
destruction, and that of those who obey him. (5-12) The security of the
Thessalonians from apostacy; an exhortation to stedfastness, and prayer for
them. (13-17)” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Today we
prayerfully continue our Feast in the book of Colossians. By reading 2 Thessalonians Chapter 1 & Chapter
2
In the first two chapters Paul is
reaffirming the second coming of Jesus and the Saints (you & I) will be
found worthy because Jesus is righteous. “11 To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you
worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of
faith by his power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in
you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus
Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
(English
Standard Version) ESV.
I think it would be of great advantage
in our walk with Jesus to read chapters one and two as if Paul was writing to
you and I today’s Saints.
“16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who
loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, 17 comfort
your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17.
There is nothing in these two chapters that
would be far from our walk with Jesus today.
We should be walking with and sharing Jesus wherever we are and whatever
we are doing (see Matthew 28:16-20)
today. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you
rest.” Matthew 11:28 ESV. Jesus loves every sinner that turns
from their sin and asks him into their heart as Lord of their life. Don’t be fooled by what the world proclaims
to be legal or good (see Proverbs 3:5-6) there
is no salvation in the laws of men.
Do you hear Jesus
calling you? Do you want to know
perfect love? Do you want to find true
happiness, peace and purpose in your life?

The Day of the Lord Is Today!
Today’s Feast
The Day of the Lord Is Today!
Dec. 27, 2013– 1 Thessalonians 5
1 Thessalonians 5 “The apostle exhorts to be
always ready for the coming of Christ to judgment, which will be with
suddenness and surprise. (1-11) He directs to several particular duties.
(12-22) And concludes with prayer, greetings, and a blessing. (23-28)” - Matthew Henry Concise
Dear Saints,
In 1 Thessalonians 5 Paul tell them to be ready for the return
of Jesus. Keep doing the good works that Jesus has called them to and to
remain physically and morally clean.
The day of the Lord will come just when no one expects it. “23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and
may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it” 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 - English Standard Version (ESV).
Why
do we continue to follow Jesus and call people to
serve him over two thousand years since this letter was written? Maybe because through Jesus we have received
that peace that is beyond reason in the Holy Spirit. I know this much Jesus is coming and God
never lies (see Hebrews
6:18) God’s Word tells me so. “1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,” Psalm 103:1-2 ESV. Honor Jesus in
everything you do and say (see Colossians 3:17). Join me Saints in letting
Jesus be the center of our life at school, work, play, and wherever else we may
be.
Can you hear Jesus calling you?
