Today’s Feast
Jan. 31,
2016 – Acts 23
Do We Choose Duty Over Our Rights?
Please join with us sharing God’s Word daily. We
will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in
God’s Word in approximately three years.
“For you, O Lord,
are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.” Psalm 86:5, English Standard Version (ESV)
Dear Saints,
Thank
you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue our Feast in Acts Chapter 23; “Paul's defence before the council of the
Jews. (1-5) Paul's defence. He receives a Divine assurance
that he shall go to Rome. (6-11) The
Jews conspire to kill Paul, Lysias sends him to Cesarea. (12-24) Lysias's
letter to Felix.(25-35)”
- Matthew Henry
Concise.
In Paul’s defense before the council of the Jews, he tells them
he has led a godly life and obeys the law. Paul’s defense includes the fact
that he is a Pharisee. The Council started arguing amongst themselves because
it is made up of both Pharisees and Sadducees. This was because the Pharisees
believe in the resurrection and the Sadducees are sad you see because they
don’t. God tells Paul that he shall go to Rome. The Jews inter into a pact to
kill Paul, so Lysias sends him to Cesarea. Lysias’s letter is delivered along
with Paul to Felix. ”31 So the soldiers, according to their instructions, took Paul
and brought him by night to Antipatris. 32 And on the next day they returned
to the barracks, letting the horsemen go on with him. 33 When they had come
to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they presented Paul
also before him. 34 On reading the letter, he asked what province he was
from. And when he learned that he was from Cilicia, 35 he said, “I will give
you a hearing when your accusers arrive.” And he commanded him to be guarded
in Herod’s praetorium.” Acts
23:31-35, ESV. What the soldiers did they do because it was their duty
not because they cared about Paul. Paul was delivered to Felix because as a
Roman citizen it was his right. The reason Paul was imprisoned was he lived,
as a soldier in duty to Jesus, not in privilege because of his rights. “68 "Blessed
be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his
people
69 and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in
the house of his servant David,
70 as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of
old,” Luke
1:68-70, ESV. Let your duty to God guide you rather than your rights at a
citizen. You have the right to
disregard people because you don’t like them. You have a duty to share God’s
love with them because you have been saved; you are adopted into God’s
family. Continue to keep the first thing first, salvation through the blood
of our Lord Jesus. It may be easier not to be bothered by beggars, but it is
better to share the greatness of God. It is better to do your duty to God,
than to express your rights as a citizen, when it comes to serving Jesus! If the Lord is
willing I’ll send and post the Feast again tomorrow

Don’t
get caught up in “religion”, it is about a relationship. Our salvation
depends completely on God! We are the Saints that Jesus sacrificed his life
to pay in full for our sin, when we repent and accept Jesus. He will come to
get every Saint; “36 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even
the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” Matthew 24:36, ESV. We are
building our relationship with Jesus right now, do not wait while you try to
change anything. Click this link for

With A Smile?
Today’s Feast

With A Smile?
Please join with us sharing God’s Word daily. We

“with all humility
and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,” Ephesians 4:2, English Standard Version (ESV)
Dear Saints,
Thank
you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue our Feast in Acts Chapter 22; “Paul's account of his conversion. (1-11) Paul
directed to preach to the Gentiles. (12-21) The
rage of the Jews Paul pleads that he is a Roman citizen. (22-30)”
- Matthew Henry
Concise.
Paul recounts details of attacks on those of the Way and gives
an account of his conversion. Paul is converted and directed to preach to the
Gentiles. The rage of the Jews Paul pleads that he is a Roman citizen. ”30
But on the next day, desiring to know the real reason why he was being
accused by the Jews, he unbound him and commanded the chief priests and all
the council to meet, and he brought Paul down and set him before them.”
Acts
22:30, ESV. What another a cliff hanger? Yes the last verse in chapter 22
wets our appetite for chapter 23. There is however plenty of information
about Paul’s zealous attacks on the Way. Also we see his commission to carry
the good news to the Gentiles. “But as he considered these
things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying,
“Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which
is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you
shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.””
Matthew
1:20-21, ESV. Hearing this story of Mary and Josephs commission to
nurture the Messiah Christ, remember you and I have been commissioned to carry
this good news to the world. “Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit,” Matthew
28:19, ESV. It is very
important to share your light with the world. We keep the first thing first,
salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus. Carrying the gospel of Jesus
with a smile.
If the Lord is willing I’ll send and post the Feast again tomorrow

A Question Unanswered?
Today’s Feast
Jan. 29,
2016 – Acts 21
A Question Unanswered?
Please join with us sharing God’s Word daily. We
will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and reading every word in
God’s Word in approximately three years.
“And he sat down
and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he
must be last of all and servant of all.”” Mark 9:35, English Standard Version (ESV)
Dear Saints,
Thank
you for joining us, as we prayerfully continue our Feast in Acts Chapter 21; “Paul's voyage towards Jerusalem. (1-7) Paul
at Cesarea. The prophecy of Agabus, Paul at Jerusalem. (8-18) He
is persuaded to join in ceremonial observances. (19-26) Being
in danger from the Jews, he is rescued by the Romans. (27-40)”
- Matthew Henry
Concise.
As Paul’s voyage moves towards Jerusalem the disciples, were
telling Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. Paul stays with Philip the
evangelist, at Cesarea. The prophecy of Agabus, see’s Paul at Jerusalem being
bound with his own belt and delivered to the Gentiles. He is persuaded to
join in purification ceremonies. Being in danger from the Jews, as a citizen
of Rome, he is rescued by the Romans. Then we are left with a cliff hanger. ”37
As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he said to the tribune,
“May I say something to you?” And he said, “Do you know Greek? 38 Are you not
the Egyptian, then, who recently stirred up a revolt and led the four
thousand men of the Assassins out into the wilderness?” 39 Paul replied, “I
am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no obscure city. I beg you,
permit me to speak to the people.” 40 And when he had given him permission,
Paul, standing on the steps, motioned with his hand to the people. And when
there was a great hush, he addressed them in the Hebrew language, saying:”
Acts
21:37-40, ESV. What was Paul speaking of in Hebrew? When I was a child
they had Saturday matinees that ended with the hero or heroine in peril. You
wouldn’t know what happens until the next week. Hence a cliff hanger.
Sometimes the Holy Spirit will, let you know when to end a testimony with a
question unanswered. This would leave the object(s) of your testimony with a
reason to return to hear more. “[Mary’s Song of Praise: The
Magnificat] And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit
rejoices in God my Savior, for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.” Luke
1:46-47, 49, ESV. Let your testimony magnify Christ Jesus. Tell the object of your testimony
that God has done great things in your life. Listen to the Holy Spirit, maybe
you will have to wait for the person(s) to return before you tell them all
the details of what God has done for you. For now we will continue to keep
the first thing first, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus. It may
be better to let them go to ponder the greatness of God. It is possible that
one plants the seed another comes to water it. If the Lord is willing I’ll send
and post the Feast again tomorrow
