To Be Noble! Deuteronomy 17

7th Year 11-12 Edition 3 - Deu 17 l The Feast l June_12_2012 Deu 17 Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in Deuteronomy 17. I hope you’ll forgive me yesterday I wrote we were in Chapter 17, it should have been 16. God wanted to be the only leader his people needed. However because they wanted to have a king like other nations God gave them the desire of their heart “15 you may indeed set a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.” Deuteronomy 17:15-17, English Standard Version (ESV). As we can see hear while God allows them to set a king over them he gives them direction in choosing the king in that he selects the candidates. As we see he cannot be a foreigner. Just as he gives us direction for setting a person for leadership in our church. If a man is living in sin (non-repentant) he is not a brother in God. God set an example for us in 1st Timothy “3 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.” 1 Timothy 3:1-3 ESV. As we see here if a person is to be over the members of a church they cannot be living in sin. God would never choose a leader for us who is still living in unrepentant sin. I try (as always) to keep the first thing first. That being salvation through the blood of the only begotten son of God, Jesus! “[Psalm 19] The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. 2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.” Psalm 19:1-2 ESV. Can you give God the Glory? The Lord said that you desire a noble thing. Here is where you must start, if you desire to do a noble thing. You are an eternal being, where you spend eternity depends on your relationship with God? If you want to be sure, you must turn from sin and just say this simple prayer; “Dear God, I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died for my sin. I am willing to turn from sin. I now invite Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Saviour.“ If you said this prayer inviting Jesus into your heart. Now turning from sin, and seek fellowship just as we do. We worship and fellowship in a Church (group of believers) that strives to measures up to God’s Word. You need a Bible believing body of believers (church) to worship and pray with. Our salvation depends completely on God! We are the Saints that Jesus sacrificed his life to pay in full for our sin, when we repent (turn from sin) and accept Jesus. Justice? Deuteronomy 16

7th Year 11-12 Edition 3 - Deu 16 l The Feast l June_11_2012 Deu 16 Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in Deuteronomy 17 God has a plan for his people. If you have accepted Jesus and turned from your sin, listen carefully to God’s plan. God said;”thou salt not kill”. so is it legal for the state to pronounce the death sentence? Yes, because God has set up all powers above you. “18 “You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. 19 You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. 20 Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you” Deuteronomy 16:18-20, English Standard Version (ESV). Once again you may say to me “Brother Mike that is old testament scripture. I would remind you of the scripture in the new testament; “12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 ESV. Let’s continue to keep the first thing first. That being salvation through the blood of the only begotten son of God, Jesus! “He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”” Psalm 46:10 NIV. Don’t get caught up in “religion”, it is about a relationship. Our salvation depends completely on God! We are the Saints that Jesus sacrificed his life to pay in full for our sin, when we repent and accept Jesus. He will come to get every Saint; “…But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” Matthew 24:36. 7th Year 11-12 Edition 3 - Deu 13-15 l The Feast l June_8-18_2012 Deu 13-15 Dear Saints, This weekend we prayerfully continue our Feast in Deuteronomy 13-15 God has a plan for you and your brother. This plan should be taken to our hearts during the economy we are in. Listen carefully to God’s plan. “8 but you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be. 9 Take care lest there be an unworthy thought in your heart and you say, ‘The seventh year, the year of release is near,’ and your eye look grudgingly on your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry to the Lord against you, and you be guilty of sin. 10 You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.” Deuteronomy 15:8-10, English Standard Version (ESV). Once again you may say to me “Brother Mike that is old testament scripture. I would remind you of the scripture we read only yesterday; “1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3 Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. 4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”” Hebrews 13:1-5 ESV. Jesus reminds us that when we feed those in need we are feeding him. “37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?” Matthew 25:37 ESV. There is one more little thing to think about “If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.” 1 John 4:19 ESV.
