Today we read in 1stSamuel, Saul continues to go after David to kill him. David out of respect to God’s anointed again spares Saul’s life. David seeking peace exhorts Saul. Saul acknowledges his sin, however he shows no sign of true repentance. “22 And David answered and said, “Here is the king’s spear. Let one of the young men come over and get it. 23 May the Lord repay every man for his righteousness and his faithfulness; for the Lord delivered you into my hand today, but I would not stretch out my hand against the Lord’s anointed. 24 And indeed, as your life was valued much this day in my eyes, so let my life be valued much in the eyes of the Lord, and let Him deliver me out of all tribulation.”” I Samuel 26:22-24 New King James Version (NKJV). God never fails to forgive and restore those who turn to him in true repentance. Today we read in 1st Samuel, Death of Samuel. King David’s request for the feast for his men. Nabal selfishly refuses to feed David’s men. David’s intention was to destroy Nabal and all his men. Abigail prepares a feast and takes it to David and his men. David is reconsiders killing Nabal. God avenges David and Nabal dies. David being impressed by Abigail’s generous acts takes the widowed Abigail as his wife. “42 So Abigail rose in haste and rode on a donkey, attended by five of her maidens; and she followed the messengers of David, and became his wife.” I Samuel 25:42 New King James Version (NKJV). God promotes his children and puts the evil persons down. Call out his name. Ask him anything! Shout to the nations, tell them what he’s done, spread the news of his great reputation! Three Things We Can Do!!! Often as a pastor I have heard the lament, “There’s nothing I can do, and I am only one person. I don’t have training and I haven’t any Bible degrees. I am a nobody; no one would listen to me.” My assignment by God was to share three things that every person can do. Each of us has opportunity to make an impact on our homes, communities, and nation! The exciting news is that you can start today and join God’s team. The prayer, “Here I am Lord, use me today”, is the way to sign up for service. Here is the list of three things we can do, starting this day. Give thanks to the Lord. I have a granddaughter in Nebraska the is 19 years old and dying of brain cancer which is in the 4th stage. Bless her soul; she is giving thanks to the Lord for his accompaniment. Call on His name. Ask Him anything!!! The prayer of a faithful man, accomplish much. Shout to the nation, (broadcast, spread the word) and tell them what God has done. This is the Good News that God delivers us and answers prayer.
