Dec 31_2012 1 Kings 6

Dear  Saints,

On the eve of the New Year I personally want to thank you for your faith and love throughout the life of the Feast and 2012.  I want to wish you all a Happy and Blessed New Year to come!  Today we prayerfully read in, 1 Kings 6.   Her we follow the building of Solomon's temple to completion. The promise given Solomon concerning the temple is extended to us through Jesus. 11 Now the word of the Lord came to Solomon, 12 “Concerning this house that you are building, if you will walk in my statutes and obey my rules and keep all my commandments and walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father. 13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel and will not forsake my people Israel.””  1 Kings 6:11:13.  English Standard Version (ESV).   We continue to serve our awesome God through adoption into the family by His grace in Christ Jesus.  It is by joy we walk in God’s statutes, obeying Him, loving God’s rules and keeping all of His commandments, as we share Jesus and walk with Him.  “Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters, “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:16, 18-19 ESV.  We thank Jesus that we have been selected to carry forth the message of salvation.  We will keep the first thing first. That is the gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  As long as God is willing and remembering that He is not willing that any should perish.  The Holy Spirit will continue to give us direction and the remembrance of Jesus’ Word as we serve God.  Each and every soul that accepts Jesus becomes an new temple filled with the Holy Spirit

LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE SERIES (Dec 31)
SCRIPTURES: I Peter 3: 1-6
1 ¶ the same goes for you wives: Be good wives to your husbands, responsive to their needs. There are husbands who, indifferent as they are to any words about God, will be captivated
2 by your life of holy beauty.
3 What matters is not your outer appearance—the styling of your hair, the jewelry you wear, the cut of your clothes—
4 but your inner disposition. Cultivate inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that God delights in.
5 The holy women of old were beautiful before God that way, and were good, loyal wives to their husbands.
6 Sarah, for instance, taking care of Abraham, would address him as "my dear husband." You’ll be true daughters of Sarah if you do the same, unanxious and unintimidated.
DEVOTIONAL
Today we read God’s instructions about a wife’s duties under God. Tomorrow we will talk about husbands. Consider these attributes.
  • Be a good wife to your husband by your life of holy beauty.
  • Outer appearance is not more important than your inner disposition. God looks on the inside and at the heart.
  • Cultivate (grow) inner beauty which reflects gentle, gracious attitudes that pleases God.
  • Consider the example of holy women of old that were loyal to their husbands.
Divorce was not an option. The example of Sarah’s treatment of Abraham as she addressed him, “my dear husband.” This was an attitude of affection. Wives you need to develop the same attitude and be at peace, non-combative and uninitiated. You can be called the “daughters of Sarah” by following her example. Dear Jesus bless the wives as they serve Jesus to their husbands. Amen.

God Bless you,

Brother Mike

Dec 30_2012 1 Kings 5

Dear  Saints,

Today we prayerfully read in, 1 Kings 5.   There is no advisory (Satan), or other enemies, so Solomon enters into an agreement with Hiram to build the temple.   Solomon drafts workmen for the temple.  Because God has granted him wisdom he works out livable schedules for the workforce. “13 King Solomon drafted forced labor out of all Israel, and the draft numbered 30,000 men. 14 And he sent them to Lebanon, 10,000 a month in shifts. They would be a month in Lebanon and two months at home. Adoniram was in charge of the draft. 15 Solomon also had 70,000 burden-bearers and 80,000 stonecutters in the hill country, 16 besides Solomon's 3,300 chief officers who were over the work, who had charge of the people who carried on the work. 17 At the king's command they quarried out great, costly stones in order to lay the foundation of the house with dressed stones. 18 So Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders and the men of Gebal did the cutting and prepared the timber and the stone to build the house.”  1 Kings 5:13:18.  English Standard Version (ESV).   When we a faithfully serving God and he hands us a task, God provides the means to complete it. The Holy Spirit provides the wisdom to complete our tasks in a manner that honors God.  “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”” John 16:33 ESV.  We have Jesus love to guide us in his purpose.  He has given us a mandate to carry the Gospel message to the entire world.  In doing so we keep the first thing first. That is the gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  The Holy Spirit will give us the wisdom and the words to complete our tasks, in God’s name.

SCRIPTURE: I PETER 2:
9 But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—
10 from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.
11 Friends, this world is not your home, so don’t make yourselves cozy in it. Don’t indulge your ego at the expense of your soul.
12 Live an exemplary life among the natives so that your actions will refute their prejudices. Then they’ll be won over to God’s side and be there to join in the celebration when he arrives.
13 ¶ Make the Master proud of you by being good citizens. Respect the authorities, whatever their level;
14 they are God’s emissaries for keeping order.
15 It is God’s will that by doing good, you might cure the ignorance of the fools who think you’re a danger to society.
16 Exercise your freedom by serving God, not by breaking the rules.
17 Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual family. Revere God. Respect the government.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: “Nothing to Something; Rejected to Accepted”
Did you know that you were picked by God to be on his team? I remember in grade school I was a captain and I had to choose my players and the other captain would choose his players. The best news is that God chooses everybody to be on his team and it’s up to you to sign up. In this scripture we are reminded that we citizens of Gods Kingdom so carry out your assignment. Here are the components of your assignment. Dear God please help us to bring honor to your name. Thank you Jesus.
  1. Live an exemplary life; the Christ life.
  2. Be a good citizen.
  3. Respect authorities.
  4. Serve God by not breaking the rules.
  5. Treat others with dignity.
  6. Love your Spiritual family.
  7. Revere God.
  8. Respect the government.

Wisdom or Worldly?  – 1Kings 4

Dec 29_2012 1 Kings 4

Dear  Saints,

Today we prayerfully read in, 1 Kings 4.   Solomon's court were chosen for their abilities and their allegiance to Solomon. Solomon's subjects were as many as the sand by the sea. The wisdom of Solomon; ” 29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of mind like the sand on the seashore, 30 so that Solomon's wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the people of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 For he was wiser than all other men, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol, and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. 32 He also spoke 3,000 proverbs, and his songs were 1,005. 33 He spoke of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of the wall. He spoke also of beasts, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of fish. 34 And people of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and from all the kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.”  1 Kings 4:29:34.  English Standard Version (ESV).   God asks you what you want in life when he offers you salvation.  Do you want things of this world or the wisdom to walk with God in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart?  Just remember that God is not willing that any should perish, he wants all people to come to Him through Jesus for Salvation. “[Jesus Comforts His Disciples] “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:1-3 NIV.  Think about it are you really giving anything up to walk with Jesus?  You get rest in this life, a life that you cannot keep anyway.   In return for walking with God you get life that you cannot lose, everlasting life in God’s kingdom.  Let’s keep the first thing first. That is the gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord Jesus.  Walk with Jesus and share his love.

Living the Christian Life
SCRIPTURE: 1 PETER 2:1-8
1 ¶ So clean house! Make a clean sweep of malice and pretense, envy and hurtful talk.
2 Now, like infants at the breast, drink deep of God’s pure kindness. Then you’ll grow up mature and whole in God.
3 You’ve had a taste of God.
4 ¶ Welcome to the living Stone, the source of life. The workmen took one look and threw it out; God set it in the place of honor.
5 Present yourselves as building stones for the construction of a sanctuary vibrant with life, in which you’ll serve as holy priests offering Christ-approved lives up to God.
6 The Scriptures provide precedent: Look! I’m setting a stone in Zion, a cornerstone in the place of honor. Whoever trusts in this stone as a foundation will never have cause to regret it.
7 To you who trust him, he’s a Stone to be proud of, but to those who refuse to trust him, The stone the workmen threw out is now the chief foundation stone.
8 For the untrusting it’s…a stone to trip over, a boulder blocking the way. They trip and fall because they refuse to obey, just as predicted.
DEVOTIONAL: “THE LIVING STONE” (Dec 29,2012)
Four pot holes are in the driveway of life and they are named “malice” (intent to do harm), and “envy” (desiring the blessings of another) and “pretense” (acting to be something that you are not), and “hurtful talk” (words designed to hurt another). These holes must be filled with attitudes of righteousness (the actions and positive results of a sound relationship between God and a person.) Christ is the living stone and our very source of life. We are to present ourselves as building stones for the construction of a temple vibrating with life spelled with a capital “L”. So make sure your life is Christ Approved.

God Bless you,

Brother Mike
