What are the odds?  – 1 Chronicles 20        March 2, 2013 - 1 Chronicles 20 Return to Admenu Home Dear  Saints, Today we prayerfully Feast in 1 Chronicles 20.  Once again we see King David leader of God’s people blessed by God whenever they went into war.  The armies they fight against outnumber and outsize them, again God gives them the victory. “6 And there was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number, and he also was descended from the giants. 7 And when he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David's brother, struck him down. 8 These were descended from the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.” 1 Chronicles 20:6-8, English Standard Version (ESV).  Our God is the awesome God!  As we faithfully serve Him God will overcome the odds every time.  “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold. My foot has held fast to his steps; I have kept his way and have not turned aside.” Job 23:10-11 ESV.  If we stray from God he will still punish us.  But against all odds we will have victory in Jesus! Posted 3/1/2013 DEVOTIONAL SERIES ON THE LOVE OF GOD 02282013 SCRIPTURE:  PHILLIPIANS 1:9-11;     9 ¶ So this is my prayer: that your love will flourish and that you will not only love much but well. Learn to love appropriately. You need to use your head and test your feelings 10 so that your love is sincere and intelligent, not sentimental gush. Live a lover’s life, circumspect and exemplary, a life Jesus will be proud of: 11 bountiful in fruits from the soul, making Jesus Christ attractive to all, getting everyone involved in the glory and praise of God. DEVOTIONAL         “TOUGH LOVE” Many are familiar with the term ‘tough love’ and this devotional attempts to give a new meaning to the usual application. Paul was writing to the Christians in Corinth. “Corinth was known as an especially "wild” city and had a reputation for licentiousness. Paul was faced with a city that was used to coin one of the Greek words for "fornicate”, which was korinthiazomai! This reputation was based, in part, on the ancient Greek historian Strabo's report that there were 1,000 sacred prostitutes in the temple of Aphrodite on the Acrocorinth, which was a 1,886-foot hill that rises above the City of Corinth to the south.” (Archeological live cam) Paul challenged them to: 1. “Let your love flourish.” dictionary.reference.com/browse/flourish to be in a vigorous state; thrive: a period in which art flourished. 2. to be in its or in one's prime; be at the height of fame, excellence, influence, etc. 2...Love much and love well and love appropriately. Notice Jesus deserves all our love! We sing the hymn entitled, “My Jesus I love thee”, and the hymn presents the question, “Do I love my Jesus as much as he loves me”? Take time and think on this today. Commit to Lord you will love him more today. . 3. Let your love be sincere, intelligent, circumspect, and exemplary of a life that pleases Jesus. Do others see God in my life? 4. We are to be bountiful in fruits of the Spirit. (Definition of bountiful= Bountiful means plentiful, abundant or in large quantities. (adjective). When your harvest produces twice as much as it did last year,) 5. Enlisting others to be involved with the Glory and praises of God. Each believer’s heart should be in the praise choir ticking for Jesus. 6. Let our prayer be “lead me to some soul today”. God wants you to be a soul hunter for Jesus. This is a responsibility of all believers. So ask God to use your talents today to touch someone with the love of Jesus today. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen. Enlist in God’s army!  – 1 Chronicles 19          Feb 28, 2013 - 1 Chronicles 19 Return to Admenu Home Dear  Saints, Today we prayerfully Feast in 1 Chronicles 19.   King David was blessed by God whenever he went into war.  Again King David consulted God before he did anything.  David trusted God, he had faith that God was true to his word.  David fought in agreement with God; “18 And the Syrians fled before Israel, and David killed of the Syrians the men of 7,000 chariots and 40,000 foot soldiers, and put to death also Shophach the commander of their army. 19 And when the servants of Hadadezer saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and became subject to him. So the Syrians were not willing to save the Ammonites anymore.” 1 Chronicles 19:18-19, English Standard Version (ESV).  God never changes!  Our relationship with Jesus includes serving in God’s Holy army.  Keep this in mind; “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 ESV.  When we enlist in God’s army we join in a heavenly war against God’s enemy.  Accept Jesus and turn from sin you will be sealed by the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit gives us a peace that surpasses worldly understanding. “Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:25-26 ESV. What are you trading? – 1 Chronicles 18          Feb 28, 2013 - 1 Chronicles 18 Return to Admenu Home Dear  Saints, Today we prayerfully Feast in 1 Chronicles 18.   King David was blessed by God wherever he went, even unto war.  It was no secrete he consulted God before he did anything.  David trusted God, he had faith that God was true to his word.  David surrounded himself with believers; “14 So David reigned over all Israel, and he administered justice and equity to all his people. 15 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; 16 and Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests; and Shavsha was secretary; 17 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were the chief officials in the service of the king.” 1 Chronicles 18:14-17, English Standard Version (ESV).  God never changes, if we trust Him and consult Him another words have a relationship with Jesus, then God will bless us.  “for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”  2 Timothy 1:7 ESV.    If your considering asking Jesus for anything, keep in mind he laid down his life for us.   Keep the first thing first; that is salvation paid for by Jesus.  There is victory in Jesus in His power.  When we turn from sin to Jesus, what are we giving up?  Think about it, you’re giving up what you can’t keep.  What is that?  A temporary life filled with sin!  What for?  An eternal life, filled with bliss! In Word And Deed! – 1 Chronicles 17          Feb 27, 2013 - 1 Chronicles 17 Return to Admenu Home Dear  Saints, Today we prayerfully Feast in 1 Chronicles 17.   King David is of a mind to build a proper house.  The Lord our God stopped him.  He revealed to David that He would build a home for him; “25 “You, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. So your servant has found courage to pray to you. 26 You, Lord, are God! You have promised these good things to your servant. 27 Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Lord, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever.”” 1 Chronicles 17:25-27, English Standard Version (ESV).  God promised to take care of David just as he has promised for you and me. Like David we should be ready to serve God in our actions.  “Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”  1 John 3:18 ESV.    As we serve our Lord Jesus, we should make sure that we walk truthfully in His light.   Keeping the first thing first; that is salvation through the blood of the Lamb.  Be ready at all times to purposely serve God in word and deed. Loved like God Loved Jesus As a young man I used to get love letters and I cherished those letters. I built a special letter box with a lock so they were reserved for my eyes only. From time to time I would pull them out and read them to reassure that I was loved. That was a puppy love experience but my relationship with Christ is real love. Christ prayed for me: • “Make him Holy, Consecrated (set apart for service). • Give Him a Mission in the World. • Give Him Maturity in oneness in the Spirit. • “I want you to love them like me”. PRAYER THOUGHT: Dear Jesus, let everyone who reads this devotional realize that this is what God prayed especially for them. Thank you Jesus. Amen. By the grace of God! – 1 Chronicles 16        Feb 26, 2013 - 1 Chronicles 16 Return to Admenu Home Dear  Saints, Today we prayerfully Feast in 1 Chronicles 16.   King David was generous to his subjects, because he recognized God’s grace to him.  He brought order and reverence to the thanksgiving and praising of God. “35 Say also: “Save us, O God of our salvation,     and gather and deliver us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name     and glory in your praise. 36 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,     from everlasting to everlasting!” Then all the people said, “Amen!” and praised the Lord.” 1 Chronicles 16:35-36, English Standard Version (ESV).  I hear this saying often; “What goes around comes around!”  It seems that King David really had a handle on that.  He was a man after God’s heart.   “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9 ESV  When we deal with others who are not yet saved keep in mind the grace of God by which we were saved.   Keep the first thing first; that is salvation through the blood of the Lamb.  Our righteousness is in Jesus and not of ourselves.  The Feast Tue, February 26, 2013, 1 Chronicles 16, - “The solemnity with which the ark was fixed.
