Who do you hang out with?

April 12, 2013 - 2 Chronicles 21
Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully, continue to Feast in 2 Chronicles 21. Today we see the wicked reign
of Jehoram. Jehoram’s end was miserable.
He didn’t follow after the ways of his
father. “19 In the course of time, at the
end of two years, his bowels came out because of the disease, and he died in
great agony. His people made no fire in his honor, like the fires made for
his fathers. 20 He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he
reigned eight years in Jerusalem. And he departed with no one's regret. They
buried him in the city of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.” 2 Chronicles 21:19-20 English Standard
Version (ESV). The question might be why didn’t he cling to God? These verses tell us because; “he walked in
the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for the
daughter of Ahab was his wife…’ ( see 2 Chronicles 21:6} So he shouldn’t marry her because of her
father? Her farther Ahab did evil in
the sight of the Lord, more than all who were before him. (see 1 Kings 16). Just
as a twig is bent so shall it grow. If
she would have departed from the ways of her father and turned to God then
things would have turned out different.
That’s why God’s Word made reference to her and her father. “[Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus] And he said to all, “If anyone
would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and
follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses
his life for my sake will save it.” Luke 9:23-24 ESV. We
think people will change if we give them a chance. Jesus tells us a couple of things here that
may truly give us pause for thought. The
first is;“15 Do you
not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the
members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you
not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her?
For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But he who is
joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.” 1 Corinthians 6:15-17 ESV. So what I see is if she had turned from her
sin and accepted Jesus as her savior she would no longer be a
prostitute. I that case you would be
marrying a believer not a prostitute. The second thing God’s Word tells us
when considering a partner is; ‘[The Temple of the Living God] Do not be unequally yoked with
unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what
fellowship has light with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14 ESV. Don’t put a yolk on a
colt and a horse. You can’t change anything once you are yoked. The person must be a child of God when you
partner up with them. Now I’ve only
been married 45 years, and already I know that you can’t have self-satisfaction
unless your mate is satisfied. Be careful
with whom and where you hang out, if you hang out at the barber shop long
enough you will get a haircut. You
know it always feels better when you hang out with people who think like you. Thank Jesus and let your light shine for
the comfort of those around you.

What did Jesus do?
What did Jesus do?
April 11, 2013 - 2 Chronicles 20
Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully, continue to Feast in 2 Chronicles 20. Today we see the end of Jehoshaphat’s
reign. He started out seeking God
moving in the direction of God’s kingdom.
In the end he turned his back on God. “35 After this Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined with Ahaziah king of
Israel, who acted wickedly. 36 He joined him in building ships to go to
Tarshish, and they built the ships in Ezion-geber. 37 Then Eliezer the son of
Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, “Because you
have joined with Ahaziah, the Lord will destroy what you have made.” And the
ships were wrecked and were not able to go to Tarshish.” 2 Chronicles 20:35-37 English Standard
Version (ESV). God knows our strength and our weak nesses. He promised that
we would be given burdens that are not too heavy (see Matthew 11:27-29). “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to
sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24 ESV. Jesus
removed the heaviest burden from us when he gave his life for our sins. He overcame the harshest penalty (of death)
when he arose from the grave. I know of
no other god that did what Jesus did when he died for you and I. So be of good cheer, do not grieve the Holy
Spirit and keep Jesus at the forefront of your life.

“For
while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For
one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person
one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we
were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8 ESV.

Dealing with difficult people?
Dealing with difficult people?
April 10, 2013 - 2 Chronicles 19
Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully, continue to Feast in 2 Chronicles 19. Jehoshaphat visits his kingdom
and appoints certain Levites and priests and heads of families of Israel, to
give judgment for the Lord and to decide disputed cases. “11 And behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of
the Lord; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the governor of the house of
Judah, in all the king's matters, and the Levites will serve you as officers.
Deal courageously, and may the Lord be with the upright!”” 2 Chronicles 19:11 English Standard Version
(ESV). Our Lord knows we are not perfect. God expects us to keep faith in
Jesus. If we love the Lord with all
our heart and seek him with all our might, we won’t need to worry about what people
or our civil leaders are doing to or for us. “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the
ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for
a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in
that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8 ESV. So
when we see our civil leaders or for that matter anyone doing things that don’t
favor our situation what action do we take. Americans have the right to complain aloud
about our leaders, ask yourself is that truly profitable? I believe a letter sent without malice
would go much farther in inspiring them to take care. Pastor Jon Lilley had this to say on the
same subject; “Have you ever dealt with a difficult person? Of course you
have. Dealing with difficult people is a part of life. How should we handle
those difficult people? Our first reaction may be to get angry and upset, but
this is not how God wants us to respond.”
Jon went on to tell us what God’s Word says about how to deal with
people who are not treating us fairly; “God gives us instructions on how to
handle difficult people in His Word. In Ephesians, God tells us to be
patient, loving, gentle, and humble…” (to see Jon Lilly’s blog go to; http://jonlilley.com/2013/04/09/dealingwithdifficultpeopl/)
I personally agree with our brother in the Lord. Keep the faith and let your light shine.

“He
is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and
he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification
for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,” Hebrews 1:3 ESV.
