Our Feast Turns To Psalms August 14, 2013 – Psalms 1 & 2 Today’s Feast Psalms 1 & 2 – Chapter 1 “The holiness and happiness of a godly man. (1-3) The sinfulness and misery of a wicked man, The ground and reason of both. (4-6))”   - Chapter 2 “Threatenings against the enemies of Christ's kingdom. (1-6) Promise to Christ as the Head of this kingdom. (7-9) Counsel to all, to espouse its interests. (10-12)” - Matthew Henry Concise  Matthew Henry Concise Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Psalms 1 & 2.  Psalms an overview; “David was the penman of most of the psalms, but some evidently were composed by other writers, and the writers of some are doubtful. But all were written by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost; and no part of the Old Testament is more frequently quoted or referred to in the New. Every psalm either points directly to Christ, in his person, his character, and offices; or may lead the believer's thoughts to Him. And the psalms are the language of the believer's heart, whether mourning for sin, thirsting after God, or rejoicing in Him. Whether burdened with affliction, struggling with temptation, or triumphing in the hope or enjoyment of deliverance; whether admiring the Divine perfections, thanking God for his mercies, mediating on his truths, or delighting in his service; they form a Divinely appointed standard of experience, by which we may judge ourselves. Their value, in this view, is very great, and the use of them will increase with the growth of the power of true religion in the heart. By the psalmist's expressions, the Spirit helps us to pray. If we make the psalms familiar to us, whatever we have to ask at the throne of grace, by way of confession, petition, or thanksgiving, we may be assisted from thence. Whatever devout affection is working in us, holy desire or hope, sorrow or joy, we may here find words to clothe it; sound speech which cannot be condemned. The Well Dressed Saint! August 13, 2013 – Ephesians 6 Today’s Feast Ephesians 6 – “The duties of children and parents. (1-4) Of servants and masters. (5-9) All Christians are to put on spiritual armour against the enemies of their souls. (10-18) The apostle desires their prayers, and ends with his apostolic blessing. (19-24)” - Matthew Henry Concise Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Ephesians 6.  “1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:1-4 ESV.  “13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.”  Ephesians 6:13-18 ESV.   Paul end’s the letter to the Ephesians giving a good example of the father child relationship.  Then before he closes he tells us who the enemy is and how to stand against him.  Let me know how you feel about spiritual enemies and the Christian stand, in a reply or an email. Are These Words Offensive? August 12, 2013 – Ephesians 5 Today’s Feast Ephesians 5 – “Exhortation to brotherly love. (1,2) Cautions against several sins. (3-14) Directions to a contrary behaviour, and to relative duties. (15-21) The duties of wives and husbands are enforced by the spiritual relation between Christ and the church. (22-33)” - Matthew Henry Concise Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Ephesians 5.  At the rate we are moving through the scripture we will read every word in God’s Word in approximately three years. “3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. 4 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. 5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.” Ephesians 5:3-5 ESV.   “31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.”  Ephesians 5:31-33 ESV.   Do you find any of the verses in today’s Feast offensive or archaic?   After you’ve prayed and read Ephesians 5th Chapter, I would like to hear (if only a Yes or No) from you in a post or an email. Is There A Purpose For Me? August 10, 2013 – Ephesians 3 Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Ephesians 3.  Paul the apostle describes his ministry and qualifications in the spirit.  God’s principled purposes in his calling. Paul prays for those who live in Ephesus and gives thanksgiving in Jesus’ name. “20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”  Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV.  Do you know Jesus has saved you to a purpose?  If you don’t understand your gifts and how to serve Jesus pray in his name.  The Holy Spirit will guide you to your gifts and purpose in Jesus.  “[ God Is Our Fortress ] [ To the choirmaster. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A Song. ] God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 ESV.  Jesus not only frees us from slavery to sin.  There is a purpose for everyone in the family of God. The Family Of God?

The Family Of God? August 9, 2013 – Ephesians 2 Return to Admenu Home Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Ephesians 2.  Paul reminds the Ephesians (both Jew and Gentile) that they being saved by the blood of Jesus are one in the spirit.  “19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”  Ephesians 2:19-22 ESV.  Because we were sinners saved by Jesus are we any better than the sinner we are looking away from?  Only in the difference that Jesus has made in us!  So when you pray for one lost in sin remember when that prayer is answered you gain a sibling in Christ Jesus.  When Jesus has blesses the object of our prayer that person becomes one with us in Jesus.  “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Luke 12:6-7 ESV.   Jesus knows who you earnestly pray for even the number of hair on their head.  When that soul has received Jesus they are part of the family of God. Jesus is calling! Can you still hear him?  He won’t call forever, now is the time to answer his call.
