How Do We Share Christ’s Birth?

Dec. 23, 2013– Colossians 3
Colossians 3  “The Colossians exhorted to be heavenly-minded; (1-4) to mortify all corrupt affections; (5-11) to live in mutual love, forbearance, and forgiveness; (12-17) and to practise the duties of wives and husbands, children, parents, and servants. (18-25)” -  Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in the book of Colossians.  By reading Colossians 3.

In Colossians 3 Paul is telling the Colossians to keep their minds on the things of God.  To treat everyone with the love they learned from Jesus including their spouses and children.  We are to be examples of Christian life in no matter what we are doing.   “24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. 25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.  Colossians 3:24-25  - English Standard Version (ESV).
The world will begin celebrating Christmas as best they know how the day after Thanksgiving.  Those that don’t know Jesus will be celebrating by doing what seems right (see Hebrews 11:6).  Saints like You and I will soberly, prayerfully and lovingly celebrate Jesus every day of our lives.  “12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!Luke 2:12-14  ESV.   We who love Jesus will be faithful doers of the God’s Word (see Romans 2:13) not Just hearers.  God’s love, grace and Word cannot be separated as we share the birth of Jesus.  Remember Jesus loves the sinner and hates the sin.

Dead To The World Alive In Christ!

Dec. 22, 2013 - Colossians 2

Colossians 2  The apostle expresses his love to, and joy in believers. (1-7) He cautions against the errors of heathen philosophy; also against Jewish traditions, and rites which had been fulfilled in Christ. (8-17) Against worshipping angels; and against legal ordinances. (18-23)” -  Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in the book of Colossians.  By reading Colossians 2.

In Colossians 2 Paul is saying there, is no room in our life for the condemnation of the flesh.  There is no reason for us to bow down to men or angels. We are sealed by the Holy Spirit we have no need to approach God in any other name than Christ Jesus.   “20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” 22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? 23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.  Colossians 2:20-23  - English Standard Version (ESV).
Christmas reminds us of the joy that was brought to mankind in Jesus (see Luke 2:11).   Jesus is the reason we joyfully share the Christian message with the world.  “13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.1 John 4:13-15 ESV.
We as the true saints are given the opportunity to carry God’s joyful message about the birth of Jesus to the world (see Matthew 28:19-20).  We have God’s Word as our reminder do we need any other token to remind us of the love of God?

Father we thank you for send your gift of salvation through your only begotten son!  Hallelujah!

Do They All Know Christ?

Dec. 21, 2013– Colossians 1
Colossians 1  The apostle Paul salutes the Colossians, and blesses God for their faith, love, and hope. (1-8) Prays for their fruitfulness in spiritual knowledge. (9-14) Gives a glorious view of Christ. (15-23) And sets out his own character, as the apostle of the Gentiles. (24-29)” -  Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in the book of Colossians.  By reading Colossians 1.

Colossians An Overview  “This epistle was sent because of some difficulties which arose among the Colossians, probably from false teachers, in consequence of which they sent to the apostle. The scope of the epistle is to show, that all hope of man's redemption is founded on Christ, in whom alone are all complete fulness, perfections, and sufficiency. The Colossians are cautioned against the devices of judaizing teachers, and also against the notions of carnal wisdom, and human inventions and traditions, as not consistent with full reliance on Christ. In the first two chapters the apostle tells them what they must believe, and in the two last what they must do; the doctrine of faith, and the precepts of life for salvation.” -  Matthew Henry Concise

In Colossians 1 Paul is saying that, faithful fellowship with all Christians is observed by saints everywhere.  He goes on to say Jesus will be glorified by their faithfulness.  Paul proclaims that suffering for the body is equal to suffering for the head.  “28 Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. 29 For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.  Colossians 1:28-29  - English Standard Version (ESV).
These scriptures remind us that faith, hope, and love, are in the nature of the Christians (see Colossians 1:5-6).   We now are the elect Saints that have matured to carry the love of Jesus to the world.  “6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.Luke 2:6-7 ESV.   Now they recognize Jesus as the baby in a manger.  If we are faithful to carry the Word of God to the world they will understand who Jesus really is (see Matthew 28:16-20).

Jesus let us carry your Word to the world this Christmas season! Hallelujah!
