2014 – Proverbs 18
Jesus
Makes Us Welcome!
“2 Set your minds on
things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:2 ESV
Proverbs
18 “Verse
1. If we would get knowledge and grace, we
must try all methods of improving ourselves. Verse 24. Christ Jesus never will
forsake those who trust in and love him. May we be such friends to others, for
our Master's sake. Having loved his own, which were in the world, he loved them
unto the end; and we are his friends if we do whatever he commands us, ( John
15:14 )” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Today’s Feast in proverbs turns our
mind to thoughts about whom we trust in. “24 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a
friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24
(English
Standard Version) ESV. Our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ, is that friend (see John 15:15) who sticks
closer than a brother. Do not get caught
up in endless complaining about life and government (see
Proverbs 18:7), people will begin to avoid you. Share
good news when addressing family, friends and acquaintances be imitators of
Jesus. “11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans
for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will
call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me
and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13 ESV.
Let them know that Jesus has a plan made
especially for them (see
Romans
8:28). Sharing God’s love makes you and I welcome
where it is important to be welcomed.

2014 – Proverbs 17
Does The
Truth Set Us Free?
This matter arose
because some false brothers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we
have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves.
Proverbs
17 “Verse
1. These words recommend family love
and peace, as needful for the comfort of human life. Verse
26. It is very wrong to find fault (proverbs 17:27-28) wise man,
by the good temper of his mind, and by the good government of his tongue. He is
careful when he does speak, to speak to the purpose. God knows his heart, and
the folly that is bound there; therefore he cannot be deceived in his judgment
as men may be.” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Thank you for joining
me today as we prayerfully continue our Feast in the book of Proverbs
Chapter
17. If you or your friends join the saints as we pray and
read God’s Word every day in just about three years you will have read every
word in God’s word. It only takes about
15 minutes a day and you will know exactly what God’s Word says. You will not need any man to tell you what
God has for and expects from mankind. It doesn’t matter which version of the bible
you read God’s Word from as long as you pray that God will grant you
understanding.
God’s love and wisdom are
demonstrated in our feast as we get advice from the book of Proverbs. “1 Better is a dry morsel with quiet than a house full of
feasting with strife. 28 Even a fool who
keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed
intelligent.” Proverbs 17:1;28
(English
Standard Version) ESV. Who is Jesus Christ, and what does he have to
do with us; “1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made
through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was
life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and
the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:1-5 ESV. Why do we lovingly and freely share God’s Word
without condemning anyone (see
1 John 3:16-18)? God’s love is
demonstrated in our love for others as well as each other: “Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in
my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth
will set you free.” John 8:31-32 ESV.
Don’t worry about the 10 Commandments, here the greatest commandment is summed
up by Jesus himself (see
Mark 12:30-31). Thank you
for reading today’s Feast, and if you are reading this online just click on any
of the links in this feast to see if I’m telling you the truth;
(Romans 8:1-4)about what God’s word
says.

Jan. 14,
2014 – Proverbs 16
Does God
Love Sinners?
Iniquity is compensated
for by steadfast love and faithfulness.
Proverbs
16 “Verse
1. The renewing grace of God alone prepares
the heart for every good work. This teaches us that we are not sufficient of
ourselves to think or speak any thing wise and good.. Verse
33. All the disposal of Providence concerning our affairs, we must look upon
to be the determining what we referred to God; and we must be reconciled to them
accordingly. Blessed are those that give themselves up to the will of God; for
he knows what is good for them.” -
Matthew Henry Concise
Dear
Saints,
God’s love is demonstrated in His
decision to patiently love us. “31 Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous
life. 32 Whoever is slow to anger is
better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a
city. 33 The lot is cast into the lap,
but its every decision is from the Lord.” Proverbs 16:31-33
(English
Standard Version) ESV. God is love and therefor cannot be pleased
without love for each other (see
1 John 4:7-9). Whoever is without love for their brother
doesn’t know Jesus (see
1 John 3:16-18). God’s love is
demonstrated in our love for each other: “20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a
liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom
he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God
must also love his brother.” 1 John 4:20-21 ESV.
The greatest commandment is summed up in our love for each other (see
mark 12:31). The answer to the question (Does God Love
Sinners?) can be summed up in one verse; John 3:16.

God’s
Gift Is Refreshing!
The light of the eyes
rejoices the heart, and good news refreshes.
Proverbs
15 “Verse
1. A right cause will be better pleaded with
meekness than with passion. Nothing stirs up anger like grievous words. Verse
32. Sinners undervalue their own souls; therefore they prefer the body
before the soul, and wrong the soul to please the body. Verse 33. The fear of the Lord will
dispose us to search the Scriptures with reverence; and it will cause us to
follow the leadings of the Holy Spirit. While we humbly place all our dependence
on the grace of God, we are exalted in the righteousness of Christ.” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Righteousness refreshes us and the
soul is transformed for eternity with salvation by the Lord Jesus Christ. “32 Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who
listens to reproof gains intelligence.
33 The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes
before honor.” Proverbs 15:32-33
(English
Standard Version) ESV. Jesus isn’t willing that any should die in
their sins but that they should all come to repentance (see
2 Peter 3:9). Whoever Jesus refreshes
shall never again thirst (see
John 4:14). God didn’t send Jesus
to punish us. “19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself,
not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of
reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his
appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to
God.” 2 Corinthians 5:19-20 ESV.
Jesus left instructions for the disciples and all that follow in their footsteps
(see
John 17:19-21).
While there is still people thirsting for salvation, let your light shine
and share the living water in Jesus name wherever God leads you.

Jan. 12,
2014 – Proverbs 14
What
Exalts A Nation?
There is a way that
seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
Proverbs
14 “Verse
1. A woman who has no fear of God, who is
wilful and wasteful, and indulges her ease, will as certainly ruin her family,
as if she plucked her house down. Verse
35. The great King who reigns over heaven and earth, will reward faithful
servants who honour his gospel by the proper discharge of the duties of their
stations: he despises not the services of the lowest.” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
As we seek the wisdom of righteousness in Proverbs 14, we see that men’s actions and thought do not always promote a nation. “34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. 35 A servant who deals wisely has the king's favor, but his wrath falls on one who acts shamefully.” Proverbs 14:20-21 (English Standard Version) ESV. Wise men seek God when they make decisions. Sometimes the men who guide a free nation make big mistakes in enforcing or enacting the laws for the nation (see Romans 1:22). The actions of these “wise” judges push a nation further from God because they lean on their own understanding (see Proverbs 3:5-6). Some decisions by the persons who lead a nation make its population feel lost and out of control. There is strong action we can take as Saints (see 2 Chronicles 7:14). Jesus said if we Saints can agree on our needs we can bring them to God in prayer; “18 Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:18-20 ESV. Jesus also said that whatever we ask in His name (see John 14:13), it will be done. We cannot waiver. Instead of complaining to each other about the state of our nation; let’s take it all together in prayer to God in Jesus’ name. Then and only then will God exalt our nation!

Jesus is
Our Righteousness!
The righteous hates
falsehood, the teaching of the wise is a fountain of
life.
Proverbs
13 “…There is great hope of those that
reverence their parents..., …He acts as if he hated his child, who, by false
indulgence, permits sinful habits to gather strength, which will bring sorrow
here, and misery hereafter…” - Matthew
Henry Concise
Dear
Saints,
As we read Proverbs 13 we see the
scripture speaking of the wise and the righteous. “20 Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of
fools will suffer harm. 21 Disaster pursues sinners, but the righteous are
rewarded with good.” Proverbs 13:20-21
(English
Standard Version) ESV. The wise person
understands their righteousness in Jesus (see Isaiah 64:6 and
Romans 3:21-23). No
person is righteous without faith in Jesus (see
Romans
3:9-12). “5 Out of my distress I called on the Lord;
the Lord answered me and set me free.
6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Psalm 118:5-6 ESV. Jesus the man was tempted yet he never sinned; He is righteous (see 1 John 2:1), faithful and true.
