Jan. 20, 2014 – Proverbs 22 Who Will Rescue The Saints? “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10 Proverbs 22   “Verse 1.  We should be more careful to do that by which we may get and keep a good name, than to raise or add unto a great estate.  Verse 28. We are taught not to trespass on another man's right. And it is hard to find a truly industrious man. Such a man will rise. Seest thou a man diligent in the business of religion? He is likely to excel. Let us then be diligent in God's work..” -  Matthew Henry Concise Return to Admenu - Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in the book of Proverbs Chapter 22. Today’s Feast says that the foolish waste what is theirs.  Wise men will not trespass on another man’s rights.  “28 Do not move the ancient landmark that your fathers have set. 29 Do you see a man skillful in his work?  He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.” Proverbs 22:28-29 (English Standard Version) ESV.  God’s Word tell us that wise men build on a solid foundation (see Luke 6:48).  We will proclaim that Jesus is the cornerstone of a wise man’s foundation (see Acts 4:11) and beside him there is no other name by which people can be saved. “2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”  James 1:2-3  ESV.  If we meet up with adverse people or conditions when we are sharing the “Good News” we will count it all as joy (see 1 Peter 1:6).   Jesus stands ready to rescue the saints from their trials and wipe the tears from their eyes. Jan. 19, 2014 – Proverbs 21 Where Is Our Heart & Armor? “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”  Romans 8:28 Proverbs 21   “Verse 1.  The believer, perceiving that the Lord rules every heart as he sees fit, like the husbandman who turns the water through his grounds as he pleases, seeks to have his own heart, and the hearts of others,  Verse 30-31. What after all, our safety and salvation are only of the Lord. In our spiritual warfare we must arm ourselves with the whole armour of God; but our strength must be in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” -  Matthew Henry Concise Return to Admenu - Admenu’s Alternate Site Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in the book of Proverbs Chapter 21. Today’s Feast looks at the folly of ignoring God and trusting in our own understanding.  Wise men trust in God’s love and decrees. “30 No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the Lord.  31 The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.” Proverbs 21:30-31 (English Standard Version) ESV.  We know the fear of the Lord and God knows our hearts and what we hope for as we share God’s Word (see 2 Corinthians 5:11).  We must trust in the strength of Jesus and we wear God’s whole armor (see Ephesians 6:10-13) because we wrestle against the sin not the sinner.  Jesus came to save sinners not the righteous people. “12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”  Matthew 7:12  ESV.  We love God in Jesus name so we live by His statutes (see Matthew 22:36-40).   Remember we can do everything through Jesus who gives us strength. Jan. 18, 2014 – Proverbs 20 Be Encouraged By Jesus! “"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."”  John 16:33 Proverbs 20   “Verse 1.  It seems hard to believe that men of the greatest abilities, as well as the ignorant, should render themselves fools and madmen, merely for the taste or excitement produced by strong liquors. Verse 30. Severe rebukes sometimes do a great deal of good. But such is the corruption of nature, that men are loth to be rebuked for their sins. Today’s Feast in proverbs speaks to overindulgence and slothfulness.  We are to be properly diligent to our earthly business. “29 The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of old men is their gray hair.  30 Blows that wound cleanse away evil; strokes make clean the innermost parts.” Proverbs 20:29-30 (English Standard Version) ESV.  There are advantages to old age as well as young (see Proverbs 20:29); God will bless you no matter where you are in your walk with Jesus (see Hebrews 13:5).  Avoid temptation by turning to Jesus no matter what situation you find yourself in; “13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. May we be such friends to others, for our Master's sake.
