All Scripture Is Breathed Out by God

Today’s Feast

Feb.25, 2014 – 2nd Timothy 3
All Scripture Is Breathed Out by God
“But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?”  Matthew 26:54

2nd Timothy Chapter 3, “The apostle foretells the rise of dangerous enemies to the gospel. (1-9) Proposes his own example to Timothy. (10-13) And exhorts him to continue in the doctrine he had learned from the Holy Scriptures. (14-17) -  Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading 2nd Timothy Chapter 3.   Paul a brother in Jesus Christ is warning Timothy, that Godlessness will grow in the church (See Romans 1:30) some are loving their twisted pleasures above Jesus.  He implores Timothy to continue to serve Jesus, standing  fast in the good doctrine the (see 1 Timothy 4:6-7) avoiding silly myths.  “16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.“   2 Timothy 3:16-17  English Standard Versions (ESV).   When someone in the church or in sin puts forth anything contrary to the Word of God, DO NOT hit them with your bible.   Again Paul warns us not to fight or banter (see Titus 3:9) with worldly people.  And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. ”  Matthew 22:37-39 ESV.  Once more I am reminded that it is far better to encourage than to discourage sinners.  If a brother or sister is in error concerning the saving gospel let scripture (see Matthew 18:14-17) guide you actions.  Because we are sure Jesus is always right, obey the gospel (see Mark 6:11) when a sinner rejects God’s Word.  We are sure of this; “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV.  Let God’s Word be the light that guides our lives!

Are The Worker & Soldier Both Approved by God?

Today’s Feast

Feb.24, 2014 – 2nd Timothy 2
Worker & Soldier Approved by God?

“I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”  Philippians 4:13

2nd Timothy Chapter 2, “The apostle exhorts Timothy to persevere with diligence, like a soldier, a combatant, and a husbandman. (1-7) Encouraging him by assurances of a happy end of his faithfulness. (8-13) Warnings to shun vain babblings and dangerous errors. (14-21) Charges to flee youthful lusts, and to minister with zeal against error, but with meekness of spirit. (22-26) -  Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading 2nd Timothy Chapter 2.   Paul a brother in Jesus Christ is continuing to encourage Timothy, his Christian brother (See 2 Timothy 4:5) in his service to Jesus.  He reminds Timothy to look to Jesus, the author of their faith, (see Hebrews 12:2) for strength and help.  “24 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.“   2 Timothy 2:24-26   English Standard Versions (ESV).   Take notice Saints Paul is not enticing his brother Timothy to attack the worldly and make them repent.   He warned him not to fight or banter (see Titus 3:9) with worldly people.  For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”  Jeremiah 29:11-13 ESV.  It is far better to encourage than to discourage sinners.  Think about Jesus and how he approached (see Matthew 11:29-30) those who were lost in sin!  Whether we are a Worker or Soldier love and patience will be rewarded by Jesus.

Today’s Feast

Feb.23, 2014 – 2nd Timothy 1
How Do They Know?

“A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”  Proverbs 18:24

2Nd Timothy Overview; “The first design of this epistle seems to have been, to apprize Timothy of what had occurred during the imprisonment of the apostle, and to request him to come to Rome. But being uncertain whether he should be suffered to live to see him, Paul gives a variety of advices and encouragements, for the faithful discharge of his ministerial duties. As this was a private epistle written to St. Paul's most intimate friend, under the miseries of imprisonment, and in the near prospect of death, it shows the temper and character of the apostle, and contains convincing proofs that he sincerely believed the doctrines he preached.” - Matthew Henry Concise

2nd Timothy  Chapter 1, “ Paul expresses great affection for Timothy. (1-5) Exhorts him to improve his spiritual gifts. (6-14) Tells of many who basely deserted him; but speaks with affection of Onesiphorus. (15-18)”  -  Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading 2nd Timothy Chapter 1.   Paul a brother in Jesus Christ builds his Christian brother up setting the pace for the epistle, continuing on with (See 3 John 1:4) encouragement.  When Jesus called the disciples did  he put them down or complain to them about the state?  No (see Mark 1:17)!  He simply invited them to follow him. “16 May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains, 17 but when he arrived in Rome he searched for me earnestly and found me— 18 may the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that Day!—and you well know all the service he rendered at Ephesus.“   2 Timothy 1:16-18  English Standard Versions (ESV).   Jesus taught them about the kingdom of God and why it was important to love others (see John 13:34-35) to please the Father.   Then he warned them about the worldly.  Do they not go astray who devise evil? Those who devise good meet steadfast love and faithfulness.”  Proverbs 14:22  ESV.  Think about how you relate to others.  Give them a warm greeting rather than complaints.  That’s how they’ll find out who you are and maybe they too will want to become  (see Matthew 4:19)
Fishers of men.

Sorry For the delay my internet service went down Feb. 21-now.

Feb.22, 2014 – Song of Solomon 8

Rivers of Living Water?

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”  Proverbs 18:10

Song of Solomon Chapter 8, “Desire for communion with Christ. (1-4) The vehemence of this desire. (5-7) The church pleads for others. (8-12) And prays for Christ's coming. (13,14)”  -  Matthew Henry Concise

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading Song of Solomon Chapter 8.   Jesus Christ become as our brother and best friend when we find him (See John 15:15).  Those who truly put their faith in Jesus will never be separated from (See Romans 8:35) His love.  “14 Make haste, my beloved and be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices.“   Song of Solomon 8:14  English Standard Versions (ESV).   Jesus fills all the desires (see Revelation 22:17) for his church.   The bride of Christ will not know fear; There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.”  1 John 4:18 ESV.  Come Lord Jesus! We are ready to return your love.  Let us drink from your rivers of living water (see John 7:37) and be ever satisfied.

For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”  Romans 13:9-10 ESV.
