“Repent,
then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of
refreshing may come from the Lord,” Acts
3:19
Jeremiah Chapter 17, “The fatal
consequences of the idolatry of the Jews. (1-4) The happiness of the
man that trusts in God; the end of the opposite character. (5-11) The malice of the
prophet's enemies. (12-18) The observance of
the sabbath. (19-27)”
- Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Today we
prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter
17. Idolatry may seem a small thing for men (see
Jeremiah
17:1-4) our God doesn’t share His Glory; Judah will die for their
sins. People who put their faith
in the flesh will die the death (see
Jeremiah
17:5-11)
of foolish men. Jeremiah recognizes God’s Glory (see
Jeremiah
17:12-18) and prays for deliverance. The prophet warns the people of Judah (see Jeremiah
16:14-21)
to
keep the covenant with God holy. Jeremiah forewarns them of the consequences
of not keeping the Sabbath holy; “27 But if you do not
listen to me, to keep the Sabbath day holy, and not to bear a burden and enter
by the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its
gates, and it shall devour the
palaces of Jerusalem and shall not be quenched.’”“ Jeremiah
17:27 English Standard Versions (ESV). The
world especially those who hate God and the entertainment enterprises have an
agenda to soft-soap sin, (see Romans
6:23) do not trust in their lies the wages of sin remain the
same. That doesn’t mean we beat people up with our bibles “Let each of us
please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
” Romans 15:2 ESV. Just as I said
before; “The best way you can serve others is to let them know about (see
John
3:16) Jesus and the gift He
brings from our Father God.”

“For God
did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of
self-discipline.” 2 Timothy

Jeremiah
Chapter 16,
“Prohibitions given to
the prophet. (1-9) The justice of God in
these judgments. (10-13) Future restoration
of the Jews, and the conversion of the Gentiles. (14-21)”
- Matthew Henry

Dear
Saints,
Today we
prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter
16. The Word of God comes to Jerimiah; He is to
abstain from relations in the land because (see
Jeremiah
16:1-9) God would allow this people to die in their sins. They died in their sin because they
despised God finding excuse for their sin (see Jeremiah
16:10-13) rather than repentance for their sin.
Did you ever notice that those who turn from
God (see
John
3:20) hate
any mention of Jesus or the cross?
That’s because they love the world and its rewards (see
1 John
2:9)
over righteousness. Though God cannot
over look sin of the people (see
Jeremiah
16:14-21) with Jesus God
sends a way for them to be redeemed; 21 “Therefore,
behold, I will make them know, this once I will make them know my power and my
might, and they shall know that my name is the Lord.“ Jeremiah
16:21 English Standard Versions (ESV). Make no mistake Saints God will reward every
person according to their will. “17 Because they have forsaken me and have made offerings to other
gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands,
therefore my wrath will be kindled against this place, and it will not be
quenched.“ 2 Kings 22:17 ESV. While those who love the Lord and are
called according to His purpose (see Romans
8:28) all things will work to their good. “13 For you were called to
freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh,
but through love serve one another.”
Galatians 5:13
ESV.
The best way you can serve others is to let them know about (see
John
3:16) Jesus and the gift He brings from our
Father God.

Gods Not

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for
teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” 2 Timothy
3:16
Jeremiah
Chapter 15, “The destruction of the
wicked described. (1-9) The prophet laments such messages, and is reproved. (10-14) He supplicates pardon, and is promised protection. (15-21)” - Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book
of Jeremiah Chapter
15. God tells Jerimiah; Though Moses and Samuel
stood before me, my mind remains unchanged about (see
Jeremiah
15:1-9)
these unrepentant people. Though
Saints alive or dead pray for people they only gain forgiveness by their own
repentant requests (see Acts
4:12) made in the name of Jesus. Though Jeremiah is a man of God;
(see
Jeremiah 15:10-14) reminding them of God’s covenant they
hate him because they love the world.
Jeremiah is filled with love for God and God’s people. He is full of concern for their trespasses
(see
Jeremiah
13:12-17) and he is unable to bring about their sincere
repentance. Jeremiah is assured that the
Lord would deliver him from his enemies; “20 And I will make you to this people a
fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you, but they shall not
prevail over you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you,
declares the Lord. 21 I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless.”“ Jeremiah 15:20-21 English Standard Versions (ESV). As Christians we are supposed to separate ourselves from the sin of the world (see Revelation 18:4) while carrying the message of God’s love to them. At the same time we are to avoid causing strife in the church. “10 I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.“ 1 Corinthians 1:10 ESV. Many times strife is brought up by subjects that have (see 2 Corinthians 5:19-21) no bearing on salvation! We have to avoid arguing over that (see Titus 3:9) which does not affect salvation. In all things we reach out with that same love Jesus has for each of us; “1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.”
Listen! Can you hear Jesus calling you? Do you want to know God’s plan for your
life? Do you want to find true
happiness, peace and purpose in your life?

“8 My mouth is
filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day.” Psalm
71:8
Jeremiah
Chapter 14,
“A drought upon the
land of Judah. (1-7) A confession of sin in
the name of the people. (8-9) The Divine purpose to
punish is declared. (10-16) The people
supplicate. (17-22)”
- Matthew Henry
Concise
Dear
Saints,
Today we
prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Jeremiah Chapter
14. Jeremiah prophecies concerning the drought.
God’s chosen people are backsliding
(see
Jeremiah
14:1-9) they feel like God has abandoned them. God has not forsaken them; they have broken
their covenant with God. Because they
are unrepentant, God is referring to them as “this people” rather than “my
people”. The land is full of false
prophets (see Jeremiah
14:10-16)
filling the minds of “this people” with their lies. The prophet
Jeremiah is confessing to the sinful ways of this people, (see
Jeremiah
14:17-22) he is
asking God to remember the covenant with His people. “21 Do not spurn us, for
your name's sake; do not dishonor your glorious throne; remember and do not
break your covenant with us. 22 Are
there any among the false gods of the nations that can bring rain? Or can the
heavens give showers? Are you not he, O Lord our God? We set our hope on you,
for you do all these things.“
Jeremiah 14:21-22
English Standard Versions
(ESV). When we feel far off from God
(see
Hebrews
13:5) it is not God who has slid away. “May the God of
endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another,
in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.“
Romans 15:5-6 ESV. Jesus is faithful and true (see Ephesians
1:3) we can be assured of His love and righteousness. If we have vowed to do anything in Jesus name
(see
Luke
9:62) we
can never turn back.
Do you hear Jesus
calling you? Do you think that God may
have a plan for your life? Do you want
