Dear
Saints,
Today
we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Lamentations Chapter 2 “Lamentation
for the misery of Jerusalem.” - Matthew
Henry Concise.
The LORD God is angry with His people because they have
trusted the false prophets (see Lamentations
2:1-9) so He deals with them as if they were the enemy. God has warned us (see 2
Peter 2:1) about false prophets. We
are supposed to use Gods Word (see 1
John 4:1) to test prophets to find out if they are from the Lord. The reason God’s people are lamenting (see
Lamentations
2:10-22) is because they loved worldly things above God. “21 “They
heard my groaning, yet there is no one to comfort me. All my
enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that you have done it. You
have brought the day you announced; now let them be as I am. 22 “Let all their evildoing
come before you, and deal with them as you have dealt with
me because of all my transgressions; for my groans are
many, and my heart is faint.” Lamentations
2:21-22 English Standard Version (ESV). God does not want men to die in their sins (see
Mark
12:30) but they must choose to love God with their whole heart. We must also love our neighbor (see
Matthew
19:19) as much as we love ourselves. “17
‘Ah, Lord God! It is you
who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your
outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.” Jeremiah 32:17 ESV. Our God is the awesome God! Not only is
nothing too hard for God; (see Matthew
11:29-30) Jesus promises that in obeying God we will never find our
burden too heavy for us to carry. Every
thing we do as ambassadors for Jesus (see 1
Corinthians 13:1-3) must be done in love.
If we love God more than earthly possessions (see Hebrews
13:5) He will never treat us like an enemy.

Dear
Saints,
Today we prayerfully continue our
Feast by reading the book of Lamentations Chapter 1; “The
miserable state of Jerusalem, the just consequences of its
sins. (1-11) Jerusalem represented
as a captive female, lamenting, and seeking the mercy of
God. (12-22)”
Lamentations
Overview; “It is evident that Jeremiah was the
author of the Lamentations which bear his name. The book was not written till
after the destruction of Jerusalem by the Chaldeans. May we be led to consider
sin as the cause of all our calamities, and under trials exercise submission,
repentance, faith, and prayer, with the hope of promised deliverance through
God's mercy.” - Matthew Henry Concise.
The prophet
speaks of Jerusalem, as a distressed female voice (see
Lamentations 1:1-11)
and the LORD’s anger is just in dealing with transgressions. The Lord is punishing Jerusalem (see
Daniel 9:16) because of her
sins against God. In the time of their
end (see
Lamentations 1:12-22) His people are struggling under the weight of their sin;
“21 “They heard my
groaning, yet there is no one to comfort me. All my enemies have heard of my
trouble; they are glad that you have done it. You have brought the day you
announced; now let them be as I am. 22 “Let all
their evildoing come before you, and deal with them as you have dealt with
me because of all my transgressions; for my groans are many, and my heart is
faint.” Lamentations 1:21-22 English Standard Version (ESV). God is not willing for any people to die in
their sins (see John 3:16) all they need
do is repent and ask Him for forgiveness in Jesus name. “6 And I am sure of
this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the
day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians
1:6
ESV. As
Christians it is up to us to foil that loneliness (see Matthew 5:14) by bringing God’s
Word to a lost and dying world.

Dear
Saints,
Today
we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Hebrews Chapter 13;
“Exhortations to various duties, and to be content with what Providence
allots. (1-6) To
respect the instructions of faithful pastors, with cautions against being
carried away by strange doctrines. (7-15) Further
exhortations to duties, that relate to God, to our neighbour, and to those
set over us in the Lord. (16-21) This
epistle to be seriously considered. (22-25)” - Matthew
Henry Concise.
We have all been blessed with various gifts; we are to be
content with and exercise the gifts (see Hebrews
13:1-6) God has blessed each of us with. Jesus remains the same eternally, (see
Hebrews 13:7-15) don’t be led astray by strange
doctrines that don’t glorify God. Obey
the leaders that God appoints to watch over us, (see Hebrews
13:16-21) remember all people will answer to God so do what glorifies
God. This epistle ends with a final
appeal to the Hebrews to respect and do what is good and right to others; “20 Now
to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or
think, according to the power at work within us,21 to
him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations,
forever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews
13:22-25 English Standard Version (ESV). Let all that we do and all that we have (see
1
Corinthians 3:13) bring glory to God in the name of Jesus. “2 I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your
name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted
above all things your name and your word.” Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV. Pray for each other and your neighbors (see
Colossians
1:10) that they will all enjoy serving Jesus in a manner that glorifies
God.
