Dear
Saints,
Today we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the
book of Daniel Chapter 6; “The
malice of Daniel's enemies. (1-5) His
constancy in prayer. (6-10) He
is cast into the lion's den.(11-17) His
miraculous preservation. (18-24) The
decree of Darius. (25-28)
Verses
1-5 We notice to the glory of God, that though Daniel was now very old, yet
he was able for business, and had continued faithful to his religion. It is for
the glory of God, when those who profess religion, conduct themselves so that
their most watchful enemies may find no occasion for blaming them, save only in
the matters of their God, in which they walk according to their
consciences.
Verses
6-10 To forbid prayer for thirty days, is, for so long, to rob God of all
the tribute he has from man, and to rob man of all the comfort he has in God...
To Christ we must turn our eyes. Thither let the Christian look, thither let him
pray, in this land of his captivity.
Verses
11-17 It is no new thing for what is done faithfully, in conscience toward
God, to be misrepresented as done obstinately, and in contempt of the civil
powers… We cannot place full confidence even in men whom we faithfully serve;
but believers may, in all cases, be sure of the Divine favour and
consolation.
Verses
18-24 The best way to have a good night, is to keep a good conscience… The
short triumph of the wicked will end in their ruin.
Verses
25-28 If we live in the fear of God, and walk according to that rule, peace
shall be upon us… May we be doers, as well as believers of his word, least at
the last we should be found to have deceived ourselves?”
- Matthew
Henry Concise.
Because King Darius made a bad decree; (see Daniel 6:25-28)
God worked a miracle and the king believed and gave God the glory; “26
I make a decree, that in all my royal dominion people are to tremble and fear
before the God of Daniel, for he is the living God, enduring forever; his
kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion shall be to the end. 27 He
delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, he who
has saved Daniel from the power of the lions." 28 So this Daniel prospered
during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.”
Daniel
6:26-28
English Standard Version (ESV). Because
Daniel stood fast in his faith (see Acts
27:23)
God sent an angel to keep the lions from eating him.
“1
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any
participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by
being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one
mind.”
Philippians
2:1-2
ESV. Don’t worry about tomorrow (see Matthew
6:34)
trust Jesus and deal with the problems and blessings at hand
today.

Dear
Saints,
Today
we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Daniel Chapter 5; “Belshazzar's
impious feast; the hand-writing on the wall. (1-9) Daniel
is sent for to interpret it. (10-17)Daniel
warns the king of his destruction. (18-31)
Verses
1-9 Belshazzar bade defiance to the judgments of God. Most
historians consider that Cyrus then besieged Babylon… The ignorance and uncertainty concerning the
Holy Scriptures, shown by many who call themselves wise, only tend to drive
sinners to despair, as the ignorance of these wise men did.
Verses
10-17 Daniel was forgotten at court; he lived privately, and was
then ninety years of age… We should despise all the gifts and rewards this
world can give, did we see, as we may by faith, its end hastening on; but let
us do our duty in the world, and do it all the real service we can.
Verses
18-31 Daniel reads Belshazzar's doom. He had not taken warning by
the judgments upon Nebuchadnezzar… Soon will every impenitent sinner find the
writing of God's word brought to pass upon him, whether he is weighed in the
balance of the law as a self-righteous Pharisee, or in that of the gospel as
a painted hypocrite” - Matthew Henry Concise.
Daniel
told the king that the days of his reign were ending; (see Daniel 5:18-31 ) he made Daniel the third most powerful man in the kingdom, Daniel
was dressed in a purple robe and a gold chain. “30
That very night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was killed. 31 And Darius the
Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.” Daniel 5:30-31 English Standard Version (ESV). Daniel didn’t ask for or want a reward (see 2
Kings 5:16) because his reward
was serving God. “8 Finally, all of you,
have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble
mind.” 1 Peter 3:8 ESV. God’s will for us is to live in harmony with and love
our neighbors (see Romans
12:16) never thinking we are
better or smarter than others. The
writing is in God’s Word Jesus’ sacrifice (see Romans 3:24) paid
everything for our reward.

“2 May grace and peace be multiplied to you
in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” 2 Peter 1:2
![]()
Dear
Saints,
Today
we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Daniel Chapter 4; “Nebuchadnezzar
acknowledges the power of Jehovah. (1-18) Daniel
interprets his dream. (19-27)The
fulfilment of it. (28-37)
Verses
1-18 The beginning and end of this chapter lead us to hope, that
Nebuchadnezzar was a monument of the power of Divine grace, and of the riches
of Divine mercy… Let us diligently seek blessings which can never be taken
from us, and especially beware of pride and forgetfulness of God.
Verses
19-27 Daniel was struck with amazement and terror at so heavy a
judgment coming upon so great a prince, and gives advice with tenderness and
respect… And everlasting misery will be escaped by all who repent and turn to
God.
Verses
28-37 Pride and self-conceit are sins that beset great men. They are
apt to take that glory to themselves which is due to God only… Thus the Lord
knows how to abase those that walk in pride, but gives grace and consolation
to the humble, broken-hearted sinner who calls upon Him.” - Matthew Henry Concise.
King
Nebuchadnezzar speaking of his second dream (see Daniel 4:28-37) was humbled and his kingdom was restored; “37
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all
his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is
able to humble.” Daniel 4:37 English Standard
Version (ESV). It is plain to see (see Psalm
75:5-7) all promotions come
from God. “4 Rejoice in the Lord
always; again I will say, Rejoice.” Philippians 4:4 ESV. Our righteousness is a gift from faith in Jesus (see
Philippians
3:1) in ourselves without
Jesus we would fall short. We are justified
by our faith in Jesus (see Romans
3:24) and not by any other
works. One day we will all fall down
on our knees before the Judgment seat of God (see Revelation
4:10) and give Jesus all the glory.

call? Do you want to find true happiness, peace and purpose in your
life? If the answer is yes to any of
these questions please click the following link; admenu.com/calling.htm
