short time would you persuade me to be a Christian?"” Acts 26:28

An Overview;
“This epistle clearly is connected with the former epistle
of Peter. The apostle having stated the blessings to which God has called
Christians, exhorts those who had received these precious gifts, to endeavour
to improve in graces and virtues. They are urged to this from the wickedness
of false teachers. They are guarded against impostors and scoffers, by disproving
their false assertions, ch. 3:1-7 ,
and by showing why the great day of Christ's coming was delayed, with a
description of its awful circumstances and consequences; and suitable
exhortations to diligence and holiness are given.” - Matthew Henry Concise.
Dear
Saints,
Today
we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of 2nd Peter Chapter 1; ”Exhortations
to add the exercise of various other graces to faith (1-11) The
apostle looks forward to his approaching decease. (12-15) And
confirms the truth of the gospel, relating to Christ's appearing to judgment. (16-21).
Verses
1-11 Faith unites the weak believer to Christ, as really as it does
the strong one, and purifies the heart of one as truly as of another; and
every sincere believer is by his faith justified in the sight of God. Faith
worketh godliness, and produces effects which no other grace… Those who are
diligent in the work of religion, shall have a triumphant entrance into that
everlasting kingdom where Christ reigns, and they shall reign with him for
ever and ever; and it is in the practice of every good work that we are to
expect entrance to heaven.
Verses
12-15 We must be established in the belief of the truth, that we may
not be shaken by every wind of doctrine; and especially in the truth
necessary for us to know in our day, what belongs to our peace, and what is
opposed in our time… This is the way to spread the knowledge of the Lord; and
by the written word, they are enabled to do this.
Verses
16-21 The gospel is no weak thing, but comes in power, Ro. 1:16 .
The law sets before us our wretched state by sin, but there it leaves us... Mix
faith with what you find in the Scriptures, and esteem and reverence the
Bible as a book written by holy men, taught by the Holy Ghost.” - Matthew Henry Concise
Paul
is says that we have what we need to live
a life that pleases God (see 2 Peter 1)
we don’t need a man or an organization to interpreted God’s Word because the
Holy Spirit will be our guide and teacher; “20 knowing this first of all, that no
prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no
prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they
were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 2-peter 1:20-21 English Standard Versions (ESV). No Saint should ever apologize for God’s
Word we should live by it; (see
Romans
1:16) Jesus is the only one
that can save and bless people. “14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ
and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:14 ESV. Be encouraged by
the love of God (see Psalm
100:1-2) be humble in your
ministry sharing Jesus as the only perfect man who ever lived.

Dear
Saints,
Today
we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Daniel Chapter 12;
“The conclusion of the vision of the Scriptures of truth. (1-4) The
times of the continuance of these events. (5-13)
1-4.
Michael signifies, "Who is like God," and his name, with the title
of "the great Prince," points out the Divine Saviour… Those who turn many to righteousness, who
turn sinners from the errors of their ways, and help to save their souls from
death, ( James
5:20 ) , will share in the glory of those they have helped to
heaven, which will add to their own glory.
Verses
5-13 One of the angels asking how long it should be to the end of
these wonders, a solemn reply is made, that it would be for a time, times,
and a half, the period mentioned ch. 7:25 ,
and in the Revelation. It signifies 1260 prophetic days or years, beginning
from the time when the power of the holy people should be scattered… Believers are happy at all times; they rest
in God by faith now, and a rest is reserved for them in heaven at last.” - Matthew Henry Concise.
Daniel
is shown the dead will rise to be judged; and those whose name is written in
the Book Of Life (see Daniel
12:1-2) will rise to everlasting life and the others to shame and
everlasting contempt. The Saints that
love the Lord and serve to bring others to Jesus will be rewarded; (see Daniel
12:3-4) Daniel is charged to seal the book. One of the angels asks how long shall it be
till the end another answered; “for a time, times, and
half a time…”; “13
So, Daniel, be faithful until the end! You will rest, and at the end of time,
you will rise from death to receive your reward.” Daniel 11:42-45 English Standard Versions (ESV). Every person who repents and accepts Jesus (see John
3:16) will be rewarded with
life eternal. “23
"Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God, for he
has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you
abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before.” Joel 2:23 ESV. We know that God’s
steadfast love lives forever (see Psalm
100:1-2) and we will sing in loud
voices thankful for the blessings God provides today and until the time of
the end.

Dear
Saints,
Today
we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Daniel Chapter 11;
“The vision of the Scriptures of truth.
Verses
1-30 The angel shows Daniel the succession of the Persian and
Grecian empires. The kings of Egypt and Syria are noticed: Judea was between
their dominions, and affected by their contests. From ver. ( 5-30 )
, is generally considered to relate to the events which came to pass during
the continuance of these governments; and from ver. ( 21 ) ,
to relate to Antiochus Epiphanes, who was a cruel and violent persecutor of
the Jews… … While the potsherds of the earth strive with each other, they
prevail and are prevailed against, deceive and are deceived; but those who
know God will trust in him, and he will enable them to stand their ground,
bear their cross, and maintain their conflict.
Verses
31-45 The remainder of this prophecy is very difficult, and
commentators differ much respecting it. From Antiochus the account seems to
pass to antichrist. Reference seems to be made to the Roman empire, the
fourth monarchy, in its pagan, early Christian, and papal states. The end of
the Lord's anger against his people approaches, as well as the end of his
patience towards his enemies. If we would escape the ruin of the infidel, the
idolater, the superstitious and cruel persecutor, as well as that of the
profane, let us make the oracles of God our standard of truth and of duty,
the foundation of our hope, and the light of our paths through this dark
world, to the glorious inheritance above.” - Matthew Henry Concise.
Daniel
is shown the time of the end (see
Daniel 11:40-45) The king of the north will invade many countries before he is
destroyed; “42 He shall stretch out his hand
against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 He shall
become ruler of the treasures of gold and of silver, and all the precious
things of Egypt, and the Libyans and the Cushites shall follow in his train.
44 But news from the east and the north shall alarm him, and he shall go out
with great fury to destroy and devote many to destruction. 45 And he shall
pitch his palatial tents between the sea and the glorious holy mountain. Yet he
shall come to his end, with none to help him.” Daniel 11:42-45 English Standard Versions (ESV). The word of God doesn’t give the day or
hour (see Mark
13:14) however God warns us so
we will be alert in the season. “29 Let no corrupting talk come out of
your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion,
that it may give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29 ESV. We work for our Lord Jesus (see Ephesians
5:4) and all of our
actions and words should support Jesus.
Let us praise God at all times for the (see Ephesians 5:20)
blessings he provides.
