Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue the Feast in II Corinthians 11.  I don’t think that people are much different today than they were when Paul wrote to the Corinthians.  We have many temptations that would keep us from reading the word.  Though the people are the same, the temptations are magnified.  We have many false teachers today going door to door.  “12 And what I am doing I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do. 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.” II Corinthians 11:12-15, ESV.  Our job as ambassadors for Jesus is harder than ever.   I know even some of my friends which portray themselves as Christian, will spend their summer at the river drinking.  It’s no wonder if you watch television you’ll see that; all the “FUN” people fornicate and/or get drunk.  We must listen to the whole Word of God in order not to be fooled.  Remember these prophets; “17 for it was said to me by the word of the Lord, ‘You shall neither eat bread nor drink water there, nor return by the way that you came.’”18 And he said to him, “I also am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, ‘Bring him back with you into your house that he may eat bread and drink water.’” But he lied to him. 19 So he went back with him and ate bread in his house and drank water.” 1 Kings 13:17-19, ESV.  The true prophet of God was fooled by another so called prophet of god. There are many people who claim to be men of God.  If you let them tell you what God’s Word says, you only know what they tell you.  If you read the whole Word of God, then you will know what Jesus says.  If the Lord is willing I will send and post the Feast again tomorrow.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue the Feast in II Corinthians 10.  Here we see Paul telling the Saints where his authority is from.  He states that he is an able, faithful minister of Jesus. Paul seeks God’s glory, and to be sanctioned by Him. He says “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”; “18 For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.” II Corinthians 10:18, ESV.  We must present Jesus as loving and just; remembering that our battle is not with the sinner.  It is with the sin; “25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. 26 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,27 and give no opportunity to the devil.” Ephesians 4:25-27, ESV.  Lovingly present the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We should be truthful when sharing God’s Word, condemning sin.   If the persons we are witnessing to are offended; they are offended by God and not by us.  If the Lord is willing I will send and post the Feast again tomorrow.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue the Feast in II Corinthians 9.  Here we see Paul telling the Saints The reason for sending Titus to collect their donations. He reminds the Saints to be cheerful in their contributions.  “8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 9 As it is written, “He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.”” II Corinthians 9:8-9, ESV.  When you give to help those that have need of help we are reminded, that the earth and everything in it belongs to God.  “4 You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine;” Exodus 19:4-5, ESV.  When God requires anything from us He always provides the resources or funds. “5 It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice.” Psalm 112:5, ESV. If the Lord is willing I will send and post the Feast again tomorrow.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue the Feast in                             II Corinthians 8.  Here we see Paul telling the Saints to take care of the needs for all Saints. In closing he reminds the Saints to care for and use the same grace Jesus used with them, when dealing with Titus and others.  “23 As for Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker for your benefit. And as for our brothers, they are messengers[a] of the churches, the glory of Christ. 24 So give proof before the churches of your love and of our boasting about you to these men.” II Corinthians 8:23-24, ESV.  I think we should think of how Jesus dealt with us when we are dealing with people who offend us. “19 God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.” Habakkuk 3:19, ESV.  When we are trying to deal with others in any matter we should remember the grace and love with which Jesus deals with us. If the Lord is willing I will send and post the Feast again tomorrow.

How Do I Know?

The Best of the Feast

Jul. 22, 2016 – II Corinthians – 7

How Do I Know?

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue the Feast in II Corinthians 7.   “9 As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us.” 2 Corinthians 7:9, ESV.
I want to pose a question to each of you today!  How do you know Jesus, where does your faith come from?  Let me tell you how I know Jesus and some of what he expects from me.
From my youth I was a Protestant by tradition; I even went to Sunday school on Sunday’s, until I was about 13 years of age.  That was when I figured out that Jesus was a good man and the bible was a book of good rules.  When I was 18 I went to war in Vietnam, think I went into shock the first time I got shot at (the day I arrived) and stayed that way for 2 years. By time I came home I was 20 years old and I saw enough “Big Bangs” to know nothing good ever came out of them.
I married a year after I met my wife; we were both 21 years old.  When I was 27 years old, married with 2 children; I was driving a transit bus in Los Angeles, California USA; that’s when I accepted Jesus as my Savior.
About my salvation like I said I was driving a transit bus in Los Angeles; and one day for some reason I started thinking about Jesus.  For some reason I couldn’t get Him out of my mind. After work that night I was stuck in my mind on this Jesus thing. I really wasn’t much of a drinker, but I thought I knew how to get my mind off of Jesus.  I went to a (noisy) bowling alley an ordered a beer.  I figured a beer to relax me and with all the noise in there, I would surely forget about this Jesus thing. Incidentally this was way out of character for me.  I was a dedicated family man, I worked hard and I didn’t have anything to feel bad about.  I certainly wasn’t in a position to need any forgiveness.  So I thought!  To continue; the bowling alley didn’t work.  So I decided that I would squash this problem by reading about Jesus in the New Testament, like I said I did I go to Sunday School long enough to know my way around the bible.
I started to go home when I realized there were no bibles at my house.  So I thought my Mother–in-law would have one, so I went to her house.  When I asked her if I could borrow a bible she replied; “What do you want a bible for?”  I lied (I didn’t look at white lies as being wrong) and said; “I just wanted to look something up!”  She seemed irritated I interrupted her favorite TV show.  She did finally find her bible in a closet.  I took the bible and went into my brother-in-law’s bedroom (he wasn’t home) to read it in private.  I sat down and read the whole book of Matthew that evening. The funny thing is now if someone asked me where to start I’d say the book of John.  To shorten this testimony I’ll just say; “By time I finished It was late and I was crying because I knew Jesus was the son of God and I was a sinner.”  I left my mother-in-law’s by the back door (so no one would see me in tears). I yelled good night and went home.  The next day I accepted Jesus as my Savior and repented of my sins.
I realized that I wanted to know all I could about my faith and I joined a great church and began reading my bible every day.  I was very independent and though I was in a bible believing church I wanted to get the story straight from God.  My faith grew day by day eventually my wife realized I was a better man in Jesus and she accepted Jesus.  Now all my children (who are married and gone) have accepted Jesus and are bringing their children up in the love of Jesus. I’m 70 now and still married to Sandy, 48 years now.  I can say one thing that I understand is a man and woman truly becomes one in Jesus.  Our love for Jesus continues to grow.  I never forgot from that first night over 43 years ago.  If anyone asks me why my faith has lasted so long I can answer; God told me how important it was to read his word.  “4 But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”  Matthew 4:4, ESV.  I’ve been Feasting on the Word of God ever since. Every time I read through Gods Word my faith just grows.  “16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”  17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:16, ESV.  There is a lot more to this story but I will save it for another time. I’m praying that you will all join me first in Jesus then in the Feast!  I’d really like to hear about your salvation or your questions.  I don’t have all the answers but Jesus does. If the Lord is willing I will send and post the Feast again tomorrow.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue the Feast in II Corinthians 6.  For what reason do we believe God has instructed us to separate ourselves from unbelievers?  “17 Therefore go out from their midst,
and be separate from them, says the Lord,
and touch no unclean thing;
    then I will welcome you,
18 and I will be a father to you,
and you shall be sons and daughters to me,
says the Lord Almighty.”” II Corinthians 6:17-18, ESV.  Sometimes it’s hard to decide when to stop fellowshipping with some people.  However think about this; If they don’t repent and ask Jesus into their lives they are going to hell. With this in mind if God’s Word offends them; they are offended by God, not you. That offense may be what actually makes them examine their life, and accept Jesus. “11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:11-12, ESV.  We have Jesus, we feel his love, and the Holy Spirit reminds and guides us.  God gave His Son and His Word for our instruction.  So when you’re figuring out who to hang with think about this; “If you hang out at the barbershop long enough you will get a haircut.” – Unknown Author.  I guess faith really does come by reading the Word of God! If the Lord is willing I will send and post the Feast again tomorrow.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue the Feast in II Corinthians 5.  Do you think that some of the Corinthians we’re glorifying their past? You know what I mean sometimes a person’s confession sounds more like bragging.  Sometimes when someone is trying to help another do their words turn into fuel for gossip?  Do saints refer to other people’s religion in a demeaning way?  Any bragging or derogatory talk hurts your credibility as an ambassador. “20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.II Corinthians 5:20-21, ESV. Demeaning others or building yourself up will never help you lead others to Jesus! “11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.1 Thessalonians 5:11, ESV.  When we encourage others and build one another up we are doing well as ambassadors for Jesus.  Let’s let our lights shine and give all glory to God.  If the Lord is willing I will send and post the Feast again tomorrow.
