The Qualifications for Elders

The Best of the Feast

The Qualifications for Elders

Book of Titus Overview; “This epistle chiefly contains directions to Titus concerning the elders of the Church, and the manner in which he should give instruction; and the latter part tells him to urge obedience to magistrates, to enforce good works, avoid foolish questions, and shun heresies. The instructions the apostle gave are all plain and simple. The Christian religion was not formed to answer worldly or selfish views, but it is the wisdom of God and the power of God.” Matthew-henry-concise concordance

“3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;”  2 Timothy 4:3 New King James Version (NKJV).

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast reading the book of Titus Chapter 1.   The letter of Paul to Titus begins with a greeting (see Titus 1:1-4) to raise up hope and faith.  Paul lays out the qualifications for the Elders (see Titus 1:5-9) to oversee the believers. Paul warns us against those who try to hold believers (See Titus 1:10-15) to the law rather than faith in Jesus; “15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.“   Titus 1:15-16  NKJV.    We should avoid those who (see 1 Timothy 4:1-5) depend strictly on works rather than faith.  This world we now live in can only be saved by faith in God and the power of prayer and repentance; “14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”  2 Chronicles 7:14  NKJV. Therefore when we hear someone complaining about the state of our world explain to them that God has given us a plan (see Ephesians 4:15) wherefore it can be saved. If the Lord is willing I will write and post the Feast tomorrow

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading Isaiah Chapter 66.  God wants people who love and adore him, (see Psalm 34:18) the humble and repentant in spirit and those who fear Him.   The will hypocrites will be confused (see Isaiah 66:5-14) the humble will rejoice in the love of God.  Our God’s final judgment falls on the proud and haughty men; (see Isaiah 66:15-24) while we the contrite and faithful come home to be with God. “22 "For as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make shall remain before Me," says the Lord, "So shall your descendants and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass That from one New Moon to another, And from one Sabbath to another, All flesh shall come to worship before Me," says the Lord. 24 "And they shall go forth and look Upon the corpses of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not die, And their fire is not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh."”  Isaiah 66:22-24  NKJV.  The great and wonderful day of judgments (see Hebrews 10:36) will be a day of rejoicing for those who wait upon the Lord. “12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;.”  Romans 12:12 NKJV.  The believers in the one God and with one mind (see Romans 15:6) give glory and honor to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. If the Lord is willing I will write and post the Feast tomorrow

Today’s Verse; “Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, By His name YAH, And rejoice before Him. A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation.” Psalm 68:4-5 NKJV.

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading Isaiah Chapter 65.  The prophecy is about the God’s grace, and the promised Messiah Jesus; Jew and Gentile alike (see Isaiah 65:1-7are to be saved by faith!   God’s glory, love and grace (see Isaiah 65:8-10) are displayed in the redemption of sinners. `God punctuates the difference between (see Isaiah 65:11-16) saints and sinners!  God builds (see Isaiah 65:17-25) a new heavens and a new earth for the faithful. “24 "It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear. 25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, The lion shall eat straw like the ox, And dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain," Says the Lord.”  Isaiah 65:24-25  NKJV.  While we were yet sinning against God (see Romans 5:8) Jesus paid the price for our iniquities. “14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”  1 John 5:14-15   NKJV.  God loves us so much that he sent Jesus (God’s only begotten son) to pay the total price (see John 3:16     ) for our sin; is any father more loving?  If your prayers are not being answered you need to reassess (see James 4:3) what you are asking God for in Jesus’ name? If the Lord is willing I will write and post the Feast tomorrow

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading Isaiah Chapter 64.  The prophecy is about the joy and promise of the Messiah God has intended for His people (see Isaiah 64:1-5and all those who turn from their sin to Jesus. Though God’s people are proud complainers this foretells (see Isaiah 64:6-12) them turning to God and asking forgiveness.  “11 Our holy and beautiful temple, Where our fathers praised You, Is burned up with fire; And all our pleasant things are laid waste. 12 Will You restrain Yourself because of these things, O Lord? Will You hold Your peace, and afflict us very severely?”  Isaiah 64:11-12  NKJV.  We should not think to highly of ourselves; without Jesus (see James 1:11) no matter what good plans we had or good works we did we would burn. “6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”  Hebrews 11:6   ESV.  I reiterate, “There is no works we can do or deal we can make (see Ephesians 2:8-9) to be saved.  There is no other name under heaven than Jesus’ name (see Acts 4:12) by which we are saved. If the Lord is willing I will write and post the Feast tomorrow

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading Isaiah Chapter 63.  The Prophet see’s Jesus the Messiah returning victorious (see Revelation 14:19, 19:13over His enemies.  Though God’s people murmured, and resisted Gods Holy Spirit (see Isaiah 63:7-19) when they turn to Jesus they can be saved.  “18 Your holy people have possessed it but a little while; Our adversaries have trodden down Your sanctuary. 19 We have become like those of old, over whom You never ruled, Those who”  Isaiah 63:18-19  NKJV. No matter how much we sinned or how good we act; we must turn to God and accept Jesus (see Matthew 13:14-15) to be saved. “15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ--” Ephesians 4:15  NKJV. There is no works we can do or deal we can make (see Ephesians 2:8-9) to be saved.  There is no other name under heaven than Jesus’ name (see Acts 4:12) by which we are saved.

If the Lord is willing I will write and post the Feast tomorrow
