Who Says? Deuteronomy 18

7th Year 11-12 Edition 3 - Deu 18 l The Feast l June_13_2012 Deu 18 Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in Deuteronomy 18. Jesus paid the price, not only for our sin. He opened the way for us to speak to God. There has always been false prophets, necromancers, star gazers commissioned by the enemy. If you have a problem or you want to know about your future God is there for you. If you need to know how your life is going prayerfully consult God’s Word not a false prophet, astrologer or fortune teller. “20 But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’ 21 And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— 22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.” Deuteronomy 18:20-22, English Standard Version (ESV). See the Lord’s Word say’s we don’t need to be afraid of false prophets. Just be aware that Jesus holds the answer to all of your questions. “Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the Lord! 2 And yet he is wise and brings disaster; he does not call back his words, but will arise against the house of the evildoers and against the helpers of those who work iniquity. 3 The Egyptians are man, and not God, and their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord stretches out his hand, the helper will stumble, and he who is helped will fall, and they will all perish together..” Isaiah 31:1-3 ESV. Hey brother Mike isn’t that Old Testament scripture your reading? Yes but the New Testament agrees with the old. “26 I write these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you. 27 But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him. Children of God 28 And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming. 29 If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.” 1 John 2:26 - 29 ESV. As for us lets try to keep the first thing first. That being salvation through the blood of the only begotten son of God, Jesus! “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:13 ESV. Concerning Religion: Don’t get caught up in “religion”, it is about a relationship. Our salvation depends completely on God! We are the Saints that Jesus sacrificed his life to pay in full for our sin, when we repent and accept Jesus. He will come to get every Saint; “…But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” Matthew 24:36. To Be Noble! Deuteronomy 17

7th Year 11-12 Edition 3 - Deu 17 l The Feast l June_12_2012 Deu 17 Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in Deuteronomy 17. I hope you’ll forgive me yesterday I wrote we were in Chapter 17, it should have been 16. God wanted to be the only leader his people needed. However because they wanted to have a king like other nations God gave them the desire of their heart “15 you may indeed set a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.” Deuteronomy 17:15-17, English Standard Version (ESV). As we can see hear while God allows them to set a king over them he gives them direction in choosing the king in that he selects the candidates. As we see he cannot be a foreigner. Just as he gives us direction for setting a person for leadership in our church. If a man is living in sin (non-repentant) he is not a brother in God. God set an example for us in 1st Timothy “3 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.” 1 Timothy 3:1-3 ESV. As we see here if a person is to be over the members of a church they cannot be living in sin. God would never choose a leader for us who is still living in unrepentant sin. Can you give God the Glory? The Lord said that you desire a noble thing. Here is where you must start, if you desire to do a noble thing. You are an eternal being, where you spend eternity depends on your relationship with God? If you want to be sure, you must turn from sin and just say this simple prayer; “Dear God, I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died for my sin. I am willing to turn from sin. I now invite Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Saviour.“ If you said this prayer inviting Jesus into your heart. Now turning from sin, and seek fellowship just as we do. We worship and fellowship in a Church (group of believers) that strives to measures up to God’s Word. You need a Bible believing body of believers (church) to worship and pray with. Our salvation depends completely on God! Justice? Deuteronomy 16

7th Year 11-12 Edition 3 - Deu 16 l The Feast l June_11_2012 Deu 16 Dear Saints, Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in Deuteronomy 17 God has a plan for his people. If you have accepted Jesus and turned from your sin, listen carefully to God’s plan. God said;”thou salt not kill”. so is it legal for the state to pronounce the death sentence? Yes, because God has set up all powers above you. “18 “You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. 19 You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. 20 Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you” Deuteronomy 16:18-20, English Standard Version (ESV). Once again you may say to me “Brother Mike that is old testament scripture. I would remind you of the scripture in the new testament; “12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 ESV. Let’s continue to keep the first thing first.
